Hi allJust wondering if I can take essential oils to help with my mood and menopause whilst taking interferon for PV. Anyone any experience of this and whether certain oils interact with interferon?

Many thanks

While many complementary health interventions are OK when using IFNs to treat PV, it is best to not make assumptions. If something it biologically active enough to help you, it can also hurt you and interact with things. It is best to check with a medical professional who is knowledgeable about complementary health. Many doctors are unfamiliar with the use of many of these interventions and are understandably reluctant to endorse them. I consult with an Integrative/Functional Medicine doctor for this reason. Some pharmacists can also be a good resource for questions like this.

There are some resources to let you do some research on your own, but it is still advisable to consult with a qualified medical professional.

Are you taking HRT? If not is there any reason why not? I have PV and have transdermal HRT which has no additional risk of clots.

Hi, I am on HRT patches which I had to fight for as I have a history of breast cancer too! I've been on them about 3mths with the pessaries and my mood and memory are still not great. I went private in the end but think I might need another review with my GP. I just don't feel myself and that I am going mad but I am seeing my blood consultant next week so see what results are. Interesting I have reduced my interferon dose!Thank you for your reply

Maybe the dose needs tweaking? Good luck, I really hope you sort and get “yourself” back xxx
