What is role of hormonal therapy drug when taken with targeted therapy, eg Piqray or Ibrance?
I’ve been curious about this and wondering if anyone can explain. I want to better understand the role of the hormone therapy eg Faslodex when taken with targeted therapy such as Ibrance. Does it just reduce the amount of estrogen available to the cell and “lightens the load” on the targeted therapy?

Now in hospice
I try to keep posts short and concise so I’ll try to keep this as brief as possible. We recently returned from a 2 week trip to SoCal to visit family and friends. I was hoping to post some nice QOL pics but in actuality the trip was fraught with difficulties. On return we had a visit with my husband

Not recurred in almost 5 years
I got regular bursts of self-resolving Afib since the age of 19, ten minutes here and there. During this time I was chronically low carb dieting and overexercising. My longest episode was in 2019, at age 29, where I woke up in it. Went to A&E and it self resolved about 10 hours later. Had PACs/PVCs since

It has been two weeks that I am taking one pill a day. My hemoglobin today was an8 and last week was 11 ,has anyone had a drop like this and one week with just one pill? My doctor does not seem concerned because I’m feeling fine. I am rechecking next week and just nervous about it going lower

Has anyone experience of weekly rather than 3 weekly chemo sessions?
I have been diagnosed with Stage 3C ovarian cancer, after finding a smallish lump in my tum in July, which is now considerably larger (20cm). A ct scan showed abnormalites in several places, and this was followed by a laparoscopy to see the extent. I was told that I would be having 3 rounds of chemo

DBS levadopa challenge. Glad its over, but it does raise a question.
Just left hospital after my levadopa challenge assessment for DBS.Wow, i wasn't prepared for how I'd be after having no meds since 7pm last night. I can honestly say I appreciate my meds so much more now. My normal day starts at 4:30am when i take my Stalevo 125mg. I'm very slow, shakey, and have some

Newly diagnosed seeking advice on surgical options
Hi, Recently diagnosed with S3 Ovarian Cancer and have been given a choice of primary debulking surgery followed by 6 rounds of chemo or interval debulking with the surgery in the middle of 6 rounds. Worried that PDS is more risky/ radical although I’ve been told that it wouldn’t be. Any advice/ experience

How can I support my brother?
My brother has advanced prostate cancer and has had surgery. New tests show it has metastasised in his hip. I want to be able to support him but also don't want to say the wrong thing or add to the stress he is already feeling. I would appreciate ANY advice ~ thank you so much.

How to Navigate Prostate Cancers With Actionable Mutations - Grand Rounds Highlights, MedPage Today - 09/26/2023
I'm travelling and using an unfamiliar tablet, so no cut and paste from these linked articles. Note the access to a PDF of the full Grand Rounds paper in the second linked article. It has a useful table and simplified treatment algorithm for those mCRPCa with actionable genetic mutations. [i]

Here we go again!
At my last hospital appointment in February I asked the consultant about his thoughts on masking still and he suggested that as we are having to live with it and the current variants are not serious for most people maybe relaxing with caution or words to that effect. I was happy with that and have enjoyed

Liver and spine mets just started Gemzar and my hormone blocker tamoxifen stopped working so began letrazole. Is anyone taking this combo?
I just began Gemzar and Letrosole. My neutrophils are 0.4. Is anyone familiar with this combination and have advice on getting my immune system stronger so I can get treatment? Thank you.

Still waiting …
Quite a while ago I asked my haematologist to refer me to Professor Harrison at Guys, he says he now has eventually sent a letter via ‘snail mail’ ( royal mail) about 3 weeks ago, however Professor Harrison says they haven’t received anything yet. I rang my specialist nurse and asked if it had been sent

Starting Kisquali and Injections
Progression after being on Ibrance for two years…CT scans didn’t show any cancer progression. I had one small area that the Urologist found to be inflammation so…I had a PET and found many new areas of metastasized areas. Why are CT scans so unreliable? Kind of scares me now. I would like to hear from

hi everyone, my dad has had MBC since June of 2022. He has been on Ibrance, letrozole, lupron, and xjeva. His Mets were to bone and then he was NED for a year from June 2022 to June 2023. In July he took a PET scan and it showed a slight uptake of activity to his chest wall. Plan was to keep him on

Study: Cannabidiol Inhibits the Proliferation and Invasiveness of Prostate Cancer Cells
Abstract Prostate cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer death in men, responsible for over 375,000 deaths in 2020. Novel therapeutic strategies are needed to improve outcomes. Cannabinoids, chemical components of the cannabis plant, are a possible solution. Preclinical evidence demonstrates
