Blood test, Marmite
I understand that Marmite contains biotin via the yeast extract. Does this mean no Marmite on toast for a few days before blood test please?

Has Anyone Ever Used Methotrexate In Lieu of Pred?
I was diagnosed with PMR two years ago and took pred for a year. I had to stop due to worsening of my depression, development of fatty liver, and total cholesterol of 10mmol/L (this was July 2023, I had successfully got down to 2mg pred). At the same time I was diagnosed with an an autoimmune liver

Side effects of steroids and why I'm determined to get off them !!
OK so the past few days have been a bit of a nightmare to say the least, but at the end of the day, having spoken to several others who are on steroids for PMR, I have drawn the following conclusion. I need to get off of them as soon as possible. I have been on them for just over a year now and

Methotrexate advice and other things
I am writing to thank you all for your help and update you on my condition. Any further help would be gratefully received. I got PMR in 2021 started on 15 mg of pred and successfully reduced to 4.5mg last year, although my CRP never got below 7.6. I was able to be very active, walking 5 miles and

Statins with BAM
After a recent blood test that shows I have high cholesterol my doctor has prescribed statins. Without even talking to me! However I have read that people with BAM cannot tolerate statins. Anyone out there had a similar problem,?.

Nitrofurantoin - good or bad?
Not sure that this is posted in the best place, but I don't seem to be able to access any other links atm. I have been prescribed this antibiotic for traces of blood in urine just over 2 days ago. 50mg to be taken at night. Only on the third dose so it's early days, but had quick urine test done

My latest blood results
Following my last post with my hypo blood results, my extreme tiredness has been officially diagnosed as, Exhaustion! I was quite relieved that it wasn't anything else like my heart or other. Anyway, to be sure, my Doc ordered a blood test, which included at least 13 items. I got the results on Tuesday

Rheumatology visit and prednisone reduction
Before I went to the doctor this morning, I knew how much better I felt. That was even though I sat up for two hours in the middle of last night listening to a book after my second 60 mg dose. I made myself go back to bed three hours before I had to rise, and rise I did! Wide-eyed... The doctor told

Just been diagnosed with Hashimoto's and quite a good positive she said 1260.
Hi All Just wanted to thank everyone for the amazing advice on this group. As I explained before I've had vertigo/dizziness and lots of other symptoms for nearly 2 years now. With loads of advice from this page with regards getting private blood tests done, pushing my Gp even though they said I do

Just Asking For Advice/ Opinions.
I'm in the process of possibly being investigated for APS. MyGP is seeking advice and guidance from haematology as she seems to think the blood tests needed arent available in primary care. Basically I had early severe pre eclampsia in my first pregnancy in 1991. I was very unwell and sadly my son died

TPO levels
Hi all, Was told I had hashimotos a year ago following an ultrasound, I had a private blood test done which showed TPO antibodies were 350 iu/l, I have just had them redone at my doctors and it’s not 278 ku/L so different measurements, is this a normal level? Thank you!
