My latest blood results

Following my last post with my hypo blood results, my extreme tiredness has been officially diagnosed as, Exhaustion! I was quite relieved that it wasn't anything else like my heart or other.

Anyway, to be sure, my Doc ordered a blood test, which included at least 13 items. I got the results on Tuesday of this week. I'm not including everything tested here. SO:

B12: 655ng/L (197 - 771ng/L or pg/ml)

Folate:10.2 ug/L ( range 2.4 to 9,999ug/L)

TSH: 2.74mlu/L (range 0.27 -4

2mlu/L) ( previous 10.2)

Magnesium: 0.97mmol/ L (range 0.7 -1 mmol)

Vitamin D: 71nmol/L ( range 25 ' 125mmol,/L

Potassium: 5.5 (range 3.5-5

3mmol/L

I still feel as though I've gone 10 rounds with Mike Tyson. VERY tired! Is there anything I can do to rid of this feeling?

My Endo team made me stop the carbi for a week then to go back to taking only 5 mg. This is my second week since going down to 5 mg. I'm not seeing my Endo team again until next month when I will do their blood request the week before I see them.

Thank you in advance. Have a great weekend!

Have they said anything about your high potassium level?

You could do with boosting your Vit D to 100-150 grassrootshealth.net/projec...

and your folate could be higher 🤗

Hi TiggerMe,

Thank you so much for your response.

My GP called me to talk specifically about my Potassium level yesterday. He sent me a low Potassium diet sheet. I have yet to go through it.

I have had issues with high Potassium in the past. I then stop eating all my favourite fruit and veg then it goes down then up again. It just became irritating because everything we eat has a level of Potassium 😒. I am going to look at the choices of low Potassium foods again and wean myself off things like tomatoes and pomegranate 😒 so.e of my go to when I don't want to eat much. I've stopped eating bananas because it was what the Docs highlighted years ago as causing my high Potassium levels.

I was taking high dose vit D tabs daily. Then one day about a year ago my Endo team did a blood test and they said it was too high, well over the range, so I reduced the frequency. I stopped taking them daily and took the tabs to once a month and now I take the same tabs twice a month. Perhaps I should increase the frequency again?

Thank you for the link. I'll look through it and see what changes I could make.

Enjoy your weekend!

Hey there again :

OK - so this new dose is half what you were on a month ago - good -

as then your TSH was over 10 but now down to just under 3 - so give it time -

you are also dealing with other issues - so just cut yourself some slack -

I think the tiredness a combination of too high a dose of the AT drug + external factors beyond your control -

Just go one step at a time - and thanks for the update :

Dear Pennyannie,

Thank you so much for your heartfelt response❤️

Up until my doctor gave me the exhaustion diagnosis, I would say to friends, I'm exhausted but didn't see it as a thing.

I have now started to take proper notice of what my body tells me, so I am hopeful that things will slowly get back to 'normal'. I am listening, so I will take things one step at a time.

God bless you!🤗

I stopped eating bananas years ago but I guess it must be the other high Potassium foods😒Thanks for your response. Enjoy your weekend!

Sodium balances potassium. Sodium is salt and you don't quote a sodium level to see if it is too low. Since 13 levels were checked, but you are only posting 6, I think you will have a sodium level reading. What was it?The adrenals need salt to function properly. If sodium and potassium are not balanced you are likely to have blood pressure issues . Do you? If you post all 13 results , members may be able to advise better.

Good evening, Wua13262348,

Thank you for your response.

At the time, posting all 13 results was going to take too long for me to input due to the exhaustion I am suffering.

My blood pressure is one issue I do not have. Yesterday's check was 109/69.

Sodium level is 140mmol/L ( 133 -146 mmol/L)

Ferritin 95 ng/mL or ug/L (13 -150ng/mL)

Calcium corrected for albumin 2.26mmol/L (2.2 -2.6)

Calcium in serum or plasma 2.22mmol/L (2.15 -2.55)

Albumin in serum 44 g/L (35-50g/L)

Do these results help? Thanks in advance.

Enjoy your evening

I'm no expert by any means. To me, these results wouldn't concern me, but I don't know enough to know if I would be right not to be concerned. I believe the above results are the same as mine have been , ferritin excepted. On my results there looks as though there is an exclamation mark against each, which made me think there must be something wrong. If there is something wrong another member may know, and hopefully will tag me if they reply to you.

HiI know the feeling. More often than not, when I get my blood tests done, apart from Ferritin, folate, and B12, they don't check the others. Especially vitamin D, which I know has an impact on my thyroid.

My Doc didn't seem particularly concerned with the results as he only highlighted my Potassium level and gave me a low Potassium diet sheet 😊 I haven't had that many salts and vitamins checked for a long time.

Have a great day!

Hi. Potassium levels over range are very bad to have. You say that whenever you eat less high potassium foods, your levels lower. Had that not been the case your adrenal hormones may have been implicated (lack of aldosterone can cause too much potassium). I deliberately eat high potassium to lower my blood pressure which has been very high in the past. Your blood pressure is as low as it is due to your potassium being high, but still considered normal. Potassium and calcium are very much linked.

Too much potassium can damage the heart and cause palpitations, and the kidneys need to be able to remove it. That is why it is important for you to lower your potassium. It is important not to have over range potassium so your doctor should be concerned about it.

You say you take carbi so must be hyperthyroid. Being hyperthyroid is probably implicated, and might be why your doctor wasn't overly concerned. Hope you feel better soon.

Good afternoon.

I learn something new every day. I had not actually heard of the adrenal hormone aldosterone. I have had high Potassium levels on an off for many years before I had my hyperthyroid diagnosis. I have tried to keep on the good side of the range for ages but sometimes forget and eat some of my favourite foods like pomegranate which is high in Potassium. I have been reading the leaflet my Doc gave me so will curb my desire for my favourite fruits and foods. In the past my kidneys have been checked with no issues.

I have my BP checked regularly so it's not always as low as it was last week. I will keep a good eye on things now although I don't want to become obsessed. A few changes might help do the trick where my Potassium is concerned.

Have a lovely weekend.
