ITP after COVID vaccine
I've had CLL for about 11 years without issues. I received the first shot of Moderna on 28 January and have been dealing with ITP ever since. They dropped from 110K to 6K. Prednisone, platelet transfusion, IVIG, dexamethasone and now I'm looking at Rituximab. This almost seems worse than CLL!

Dexamethasone and Enzalutamide
Hi everyone! Dad is currently undergoing radiotherapy on his lower spine due to compression. They have also prescribed him dexamethasone. I have read there is a moderate interaction meaning that it decreases effectiveness of the Enzalutamide. Does anyone know of this and should it be of concern? Thanks

Estrogen therapy rediscovered
Before Lupron got FDA approval, prostate cancer was treated with orchiectomy or estrogens. The latter was done with diethylstilbestrol (DES) offered as fosfestrol and many further names. In India diethylstilbestrol is offered as Honvan and still used today against prostate cancer. In men, the required

Any experiences from COVID ICU patients in their 70s? We seem to have a small window left.
My dad’s symptoms started Boxing Day, in hospital since Jan 5th. His oxygen requirements kept going up and up until he had to go on a ventilator on Jan 19th. He had a stroke a 4 months ago and had an operation to remove a blocked section of artery in his neck, but was making good recovery in regaining

Toward safer steroids: Scientists devise process for making precision anti-inflammatory medicines.
A collaboration led by Scripps Research has developed a way to separate the beneficial anti-inflammatory properties of a group of steroids called glucocorticoids from some of their unwanted side-effects, through an optimization process they named “ligand class analysis.” Their process enabled them to

Red spot on the head of penis
I've seen a urologist and he prescribed a steroidal cream, Clotrimazole/
Betamethasone
. It seems to help temporarily but does not solve the problem, as the redness still returns after sex. About a month ago I had a biopsy done on the area and it came back negative for cancer, viruses, etc.

Struggling with Covid and asthma.
Update: 02/02/21 Hubby and I finally well enough to leave hospital to continue our recovery. It's going to be a long haul as we both have on going issues due to Covid. Thank you for the well wishes. Home at last after 10 days in hospital. Can't fault the care we received throughout. Update: 29/01/21

Quest for Lu 177 succeeded
I am writing this waiting for my radiation readings to go down so I can go back to our flat here in Windsor. My first dose of Lu 177 is circulating through my system. Amazing it is jus 8 mL of “medication”. For those of you thinking about this therapy a PSMA PET CT scan will have to be done first

Post Covid
Good morning all . It has been almost 3 weeks since I caught Covid and ended up in hospital. I’m almost feeling human again but much of it is a case of having to get on with it . I’ve lost loads of weight, have no energy and I’ve gone off my life saving cups of tea . I upped my Prednisilone from 3mg

What are Tocilizumab and Sarilumab treatments for COVID?
The REMPA-CPAP Clinical trial results show that the drugs reduced the risk of death by 24% for critically ill patients and reduced the time spent in intensive care by up to 10 days. In light of these results, the UK government has said that supplies of tocilizumab are already available in hospitals

Dexamethasone Shortage!
My regular pharmacy could not supply my dex refill. They said there was a manufacturers shortage. I finally found a CVS store that had stock to fill a 30 day script. My MO concurred with me that it’s due to dex being used in large doses to mitigate Covid symptoms.

Hypothyroid, coeliac, PMR - my journey to 0 pred
Diagnosed with PMR in 2017 and after a few months of not taking pred, I succumbed and my aches and pains mostly vanished. I was working in a high pressure environment then and was luckily able to keep working and attend my Pilates classes all the way through apart from a 6 week period during the first
