Hi everyone! Dad is currently undergoing radiotherapy on his lower spine due to compression. They have also prescribed him dexamethasone. I have read there is a moderate interaction meaning that it decreases effectiveness of the Enzalutamide. Does anyone know of this and should it be of concern? Thanks as always

Dexamethasone has prostate cancer fighting property on its own. It is sometimes given temporarily to lower inflammatory pain from spine radiation.
Dexamethasone is not required with Enzalutamide. However, in the AFFIRM and PREVAIL trials, which let to the approval of Enzalutamide, the patients were allowed to use Dexamethasone if required for clinical needs. If your Dad is treated for spinal compression, Dexamethasone is more important than an unproven decrease in effectiveness of Enzalutamide.
