Benzodiazepines

Does anyone have experience switching benzodiazepines? My Psychiatrist wants me to switch from Valium to Xanax and even though I’ve been on it before I’m scared of just straight switching. I’m also scared of tapering. I’m just terrified of overdose or bad withdrawals. I have bad health fears.

HelloI'd like to ask what experiences people with tinnitus/hyperacusis as my husband has, with taking Benzodiazepines My husbands ENT consultant said Diazepam would help and to start with it did calm things down, but recently his tinnitus has got worse and had vertigo which he didn't have on them.

does benzodiazepines help or hurt restless legs? The doc wants to add one pill at night time and I am already taking Horizant and Suboxone.

It doesn't seem to have a lot of contraindications, and seems to be a more natural alternative to benzodiazepines.

However, are these drugs similar to things like benzodiazepines where you have to keep taking higher and higher doses to get the same effect (should I be preparing for this to happen) or do they work indefinitely similar to a blood pressure med? Thanks

I’ve been on Ativan .5-1mg daily as needed 7 years. It’s fast acting, I don’t take it often and it works great for panic. Benzodiazepines are available; however, we do not recommend this med due to risk of falls and dependence with use. I can refer him to neuro if he wants to know his options during his next visit.

I have been married to a man who has been using opiates following a back injury and more recently, benzodiazepines for the past 7 years. The mood swings are so intense and erratic. I keep busy and try and stay away, and he won’t get therapy.

Hi Has anyone else experienced coming off of Diazepam or similar benzodiazepines? I’ve been on Diazepam for over 10 months (so a LOT longer than the recommended 2 weeks max to avoid addiction).

He won’t prescribe benzodiazepines. in the meantime the anxiety continues to rise. Tornados, serious illnesses in family, on and on. sorry for long post. It helps get it off my brain.

Benzodiazepines destroyed me. It messed up my memory, my vision, my hearing, my sense of touch, my strength, and just my general understanding of the real world. Now I am still lost and confused many years later. I don't understand the point of life, what to do.

Which benzodiazepine have you found helpful for dealing with the stress and anxiety of tinnitus from profound hearing loss?

Minimal side effects and it is non addictive in contrast to ambient or other benzodiazepines. It is actually a new class of drugs called a "dual orexin receptor antagonist [DORAS]" and it worked well for me. I have RLS and insomnia and it helped both.

I was a heavy drinker for a few years and benzodiazepines for a year but stopped 6 months ago and that’s when I started having problems I have been suffering from nausea for 6 months and constipation for 3 months.

GP stopped clobazam in 2006 due to concerns over benzodiazepines, and within 3 weeks had 2 nocturnal gran mal seizures plus post-ictal behaviour issues. Took 8 months to get back onto clobazam again.
