Congestion
I have Bronchiectasis and Asthma, over the past month or so I am continually congested with unpleasant mucus. I had a few days of, for me, severe asthma, which was sorted out with a short course of prednisolone. I just cannot seem to get rid of the congestion, keeping me awake at night and I am so

Antibiotics
Hi everyone... feeling pretty dreadful right now... I was in theatre yesterday due to an infected sebaceous cyst on my back that just appeared overnight. In the last few days I had erythromycin for 3 days which severely upset my stomach followed by 6 days of clarithromycin...neither helped. Now I'm on

Flying with Bronchiectasis ?
Please can you tell me about your experience flying with Bronchiectasis? I have looked online and the advice is very confusing. I was diagnosed with mild Bronch and possibly asthma last year. I currently have 2 inhalers ( Ventolin and Fostaire) and I am taking Azithromycin 3 days a week. I would

bronchiectasis, asthma and long covid
Hi, I’m about 3 months into my bronchiectasis journey since my diagnosis earlier this year. My 3 month azithromycin trial went well and is now on my repeat prescription list (with it feels like a million other things ) I went for assessment for pulmonary rehab and the physio decided I’m too affected

sudden Bronchiectasis exacerbation.
I was diagnosed with bronchiectasis about 5 years ago and have been on daily azithromycin tablets 250mcg which have been a life changer after getting chest infections on a monthly basis and basically living as an invalid for years. I felt stronger and more confident. Apart from a few colds and a flu

covid - any benefit from Azithromycin 250
yesterday I spend several hours in car with someone who may now have covid, although she’s only presently showing a sore throat. Someone she spent last weekend with has now tested positive. Do I get any protection from the daily dose of Azithromycin 250. I have problem wearing mask as result of broken

Recently diagnosed with Covid, doctor prescribed the above to help with sinus pressure. Should it or azithromycin make RL to kick back up? Thanks

covid (any benefit to azithromycin)
I posted at the weekend about hoping to secure anti virals as I had a significant exposure to covid. As expected I did get covid & feel very ill now. As also expected it’s unlikely I’ll get Paxlovid, despite some strong words with my less than competent GP. She has sent across a script for Azithromycin

My rescue pack
I’ve been on 1 daily Azithromycin since 1 December last, worked well, so I’m disappointed to have to start yesterday my rescue pack 750mg Ciprofloxacin, 2 daily for 14 days. Have to recognise though when they’re needed, and keep good supply, fingers crossed work well. I’ll update on progress. May not

Carbocisteine 375mg
I’ve been taking 4 daily of this medication for several years. However last couple of weeks I’m coughing lot and not always able to get up mucus, including after using Aerobika. My physiotherapist says when she listens to chest there are more noises than used to be. The product leaflet says two capsules

Mannitol challenge
Hi, hope you are all well. 😊 Bit of a long story sorry…. I’ve recently seen a new consultant, who is sending me for a ‘mannitol’ challenge test and wondered if anyone else who has similar asthma to me, has had experience of this and what the outcome was. A consultant I saw a couple of years ago,

NHS medication requested from GP surgery
I expect we all have repeat scripts showing when we can request regular medication, and when it was last issued, the date we can request more, and date when review is due. Most of my items were due for review on Thursday 2 March 2023. However nothing has happened, except with my antibiotic Azithromycin

Azithromycin
I finally received copy of my consultant report to my GP re face to face consultation on 3 March. Pleased that Azithromycin I’ve been taking 1 daily since 1 December is doing good job. Sputum sample negative. I’m to carry on taking it, and twice daily Nebulising, using Aerobika as necessary and doing

Any advice gratefully recieved..Bronchiectasis exacerbation?
Good Morning all, just wanted to seek some help from those in the know ( albeit not medically trained). Mum is 94, started going downhill 8 weeks or so ago, tired, more short of breath than normal and sputum hard to clear and change of colour. Started her Co-amoxiclav but 8 days on no improvement so

stopping azithromycin
this is to ask people’s thoughts / experience not a suggestion! Azithromycin works really well. It is in multiple guidelines due to 3 high quality trials showing benefit. The trials only lasted 12 months. Longer term it seems to still help but no proof of this. Perhaps some need to stay on, some could

Just had meds change - any problems ?
Some of you will remember my last post this week where I was desperate to reduce my fierce coughing. Doc has changed me from Bevespi to Trimbow, put me on azithromycin for a week, Changed my statin from prevastatin to rosuvastatin and my ppi from omeprazole to Famotidine. Anyway at least he did something
