Yesterday I saw my consultant and NHS physio in Chest Clinic I last went to 70 years ago, for X-ray that showed my heart on wrong side. I well recall the lady doing X-ray, she was bewildered, asked if I had turned etc., did another X-ray. Now know that I was born with PCD, but was so rare wasnt diagnosed

Asthma and Spiriva
Recently when visiting asthma specialist I was given Spiriva to try. So far it has caused pain in chest, coughing and tightness in lungs, feeling of vagueness, respiratory rate goes up for hours, and blood pressure goes up, muscle pain, generally not feeling great. I am allergic to one of the preservatives

Azithromycin 3X week for Bronchiectasis?
Hi everyone, Has anyone been on Azithromycin 500 mg. 3X per week? I am particularly interested in hearing if it improved your quality of life and if so, how long did it take to notice an improvement. Also, please share your experience with this. Thanks to all.

Azithromycin and IBD
Good morning everyone Firstly I just wanted to give a brief update from my last post 3 months ago. I have Bronchiectasis and I also have developed Ulcerative Colitis since that initial diagnosis. At the time it was thought this might have been linked to me taking Azithromycin as a prophylactic for a

Azithromycin side effects
I started long term (alternative days) azithromycin 250mg a few months. I am not able to take the capsules because I have a swolling problem, they were changed to tablets which can be taken with food. 3-4 hours after taking a tablet I start to feel really unwell, shivery, so tired, bloated, awful stomach

Big thank you for all your replies on prophylactic azithromycin and Doxi
Big thank you for all your replies concerning whether to stop azithromycin when taking Doxi. It gives me a warm feeling that there are so many caring, compassionate people willing to help. I totally appreciate we are not medically qualified to give advice on medications. For a start we may not know

my consultant put me on 1 daily Azithromycin, and I’m pleased to say that for the 3 months I’ve been on them I’ve not had any flair ups, or high temperature. Sometimes I’m bit tired, little back ache (that’s always been a guide) but could be age, Happy New Year, long may it continue, best wishes

Advice please on possible flare-up of bronchiectasis and when to start taking emergency pack of Doxycycline
I have mild Bronchiectasis and been very lucky in past few years. Tw days in a row I have been out in cold wind. Now my right lung is painful. I am taking carbocisteine and Azithromycin (long term). I am worried I will have a flare up? What is best thing to do and should I be taking the Doxycycline

Changed my consultant
From a few days I am experiencing bronch exacerbation with increased sputum which is dark. This time I decided to go to a different doctor who is also a bronch specialist. He told that I will have to have azithromycin long term; 6-8 months per year. The next thing he did is to change my inhaler from

chronic infections and trying to be a primary school teacher
Hello. This is my first post on here. I didn’t know this existed until a week ago and it’s good not to feel so alone! I have been a teacher (reception children aged 4-5) for over 15 years now. I am sure that it has contributed to me getting more chest infections. Last year I was on antibiotics pretty

In praise of my GP
I'm quick to have a moan when things aren't right, but I'm here to say that I think my GP is one of the best! I'm really speaking of her lovely manner, her approachability, her open-mindedness and willingness to take appropriate action immediately when required. So, following my phone appointment with

Change in symptoms
I have bronchiectasis (from childhood) and asthma, colonised with pseudomonas. Usually, I'm quite able to do chest clearance every day to get rid of the sputum lurking in my lungs. However, over the last week, my chest has become very 'dry', and I have a hoarse voice! Not feeling great, any ideas

Managing asthma while reducing steroids
Hi, hope you’re all ok. I’ve been lucky that I’ve been steroid free for about 5months and my asthma’s been fairly under control, which for me means taking ventolin maybe 2 or 3 days a week and sometimes several times during ‘that’ day. I recently caught a cold and I’ve been really congested with sinus

Azithromycin Party
I have started prophylactic Azithromycin 250mg 3x7 . What a party....can't stop dancing toward the loo. To add to my joy, I have started CoAmoxiclav for a separate ailment. I am frightened to go out for fear of leaking . I know others here are using Azithromycin and wonder if you have similar reactions
