azithromycin and atorvastatin

Hi,ive just been prescribed azithromycin 250mg mon ,wed,fri ,after reading comments thought i would take at night time .Realised today that i also take atorvastatin but i have not been told yet no to stop it? Anyone else had this issue ?

I take azithromycin and statins both in the evenings. ( have done for years) You should maybe speak to your GP or pharmacist to put your mind at rest.

Many thanks spoke to 2 different pharmacists and they said they were not aware of any problems .

I take both, along with other meds. Azithromycin, an antibiotic, to manage COPD flare ups, and Atorvastatin, a statin, to lower cholesterol and prevent heart failure.

Hello busygardener, I have been taking Azithromycin for about 6 years and statins for about the same length of time. I take the statins at night and Azithromycin in the mornings with no issues at all.

As teddyd has already suggested perhaps speak to your pharmacist for their opinion…

Same here, I take both as Pauline does. I like to take Azith in the morning with food.I know that if one is prescribed antibiotic Clarithromycin you have to stop taking statins for the duration. With doxycycline you have to stay out of the sun.
