Arrhythmia and Afib are they the same ?
my cardiologist tells me i have severe arrhythmia and will need to take anti coagulants indefinitely; i also had my pprolapsed mitral valve replaced 3 years ago, whether one or other of these conditions existed first is not known. Other than warfarin I take Ezetrol to lower cholesterol. I have no idea

Wondering if I should get a Partial Thyroidectomy?
I have a nodule on the left side of my thyroid which grew from 11 x 5 x 7 mm to 14 x 9 x 7 mm over the last 6 months. My endocrinologist and ENT believe it’s cancer. No impact on my lymph nodes. My surgery is in a few days and I’m just nervous I’m removing a part of my body that could be fine. Any

I now get
atrial
flutter
if I get up too soon after eating a light lunch. Yesterday I popped into the kitchen mid lunch to grab a drink. Stupid, of course. The heart did a somersault, my head went round, [not unusual] but instead of recovering I slid to the floor in a half faint.

Dofetilide
I have afib and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy along with a history of 3 ablations and 7 cardioversions. I recently started taking Dofetilitde after the required 3 day hospital stay. IT is now 10 day later and I still have passing epidodes of afib. I am interested to hear about anyone else on defetilide

Distended stomach & abdomen after ablation
Bit of a strange one this, so thought I'd ask if anyone else has had a similar experience and a diagnosis. I had my 2nd catheter ablation 4 days ago under Gen Aanaesthetic; the ablation, plus cardioversion, seems to have gone well (allowing for it being very early days) and the groin wound is healing

PC no longer castrate resistant
Hello all, my latest pet/ct scan indicates my PC is no longer castrate resistant as there is new disease growth in my lungs. Largest lesion is 2.5 centimeters. I'm no longer taking xtandi, so it can be "washed out" of my system prior to new treatment, however I'm still getting quarterly lupron shots

Expediting phase 3 trials: using rPFS and cPFS as surrogates
"We investigated whether radiographic progression-free survival (rPFS) and clinical PFS (cPFS) are valid surrogates for OS in men with mHSPC and could potentially be used to expedite future phase III clinical trials."...and it seems that they can be used as surrogate! https://ascopubs.org/doi/full/10.1200

blood transfusions
My husband has high risk MF and takes RUX/jackifi which he started last March since his disease has progressed and HU did not work for him any longer. He has had to rely on monthly blood transfusions since last June which normally last him around a month before he needs another transfusion since

Being referred for an angiogram and anxious
There was also the finding of possible
atrial
flutter
. I know there is likely to be a wait of at least 3 months for the angiogram. I now feel like I am back to square one, and I am already feeling anxious about the wait for the angiogram.

Humidity and AF
Hi all. Here in SW England we’ve had such heavy, humid weather the past few days. Does anyone else struggle with more breathlessness and fatigue in these conditions? I have persistent AFib and normally get a bit puffed, but this seems twice the normal load, Not to mention the havoc it has caused with

Update on post ablation - day 6
Hi. Well after posting such a positive message to try to cheer up anyone waiting for their first ablation, I came back down to earth with a bump. I felt so well on Wednesday (ablation on Tuesday) that I did everything I felt like doing but at about 01.30, I got a full-blown AF episode which I wasn't
