Newbies to afib - harness your fear
You will be on
anticoagulants
(most important) but don't let it drag you down to much. I know what it's like being in bad afib - believe me. I'm in it as I type. Hearts all over the place and I couldn't walk down the road at the minute. Will it beat me - no.

Small Purple/Red Bruises
I’ve just noticed several small red/purple dots/bruises on one forearm. Does anyone else have these or know what they are? I’m on Rivaroxaban and Flecainide and I read somewhere they could be caused by blood thinners? Any info greatly received.

Hydroxvchloroquine or Methotrexate
Have new consultant who wants to change my dmard to methotrexate but I am really concerned because I am on blood thinners for past DVTs, have atrial fibrillation and low blood pressure. I was diagnosed with RA in March and saw a consultant who decided the best treatment for me was a high dose of steroids

SI query
Hi sorry to post again, just tried to SI into my leg. It was quite hard to get it in then as I was pushing the plunger it stopped after about 1/3 had gone in and wouldn’t go further. So I waited 10 seconds, pulled the needle out and blood poured down my leg, it was on the floor too. It’s ok now. It was

Xarelto (blood thinner) and hydroxycarbamide
When I was diagnosed a year ago with ET/PV I had already had a blood clot in my leg (large but superficial) followed a few months later by a small clot in my lung after treatment for a varicose vein. This was followed a few months later by two small clots - one in each lung. I was put on Xarelto 20

Mind-Map of Lone AF, Thyroid, Gilbert's and Autism
I'm new to forums about the above. So, forgive me if I'm going over old ground. My medical history is really only remarkable for mild Gilbert's Syndrome (hyperbilirubinaemia) and mercury fillings (in common with much of the UK of my generation!). However, 13 years ago I was diagnosed with lone paroxysmal

A.Fib
Hi everyone hope you're all as well as you can be. So 1 month ago I was diagnosed with A.Fib, spent 36hrs in hospital getting it sorted out. I'm on blood thinners and beta blockers now. Could my high cholesterol have caused this and if so is there anything I can do to stop it happening again. TY xx

LATERAL FLOW TESTS, ANTI COAGULANTS AND NOSE BLEEDS.
She told me that these tests can cause nose bleeds, which can be serious for people on
anticoagulants
. So, take care the next time you stick one of the LFT sticks up your nose!

Exercising at higher altitude with afib
I’m a 76 y.o. man who was diagnosed with paroxysmal AFib late last year. I experienced about four terrifying episodes over a period of a couple of months that lasted from 2 to 6 hours each from October to January. Last sustained AFib occurred in January. Now taking 50 mg Flecainide twice per day and

Potential cures for atherosclerosis
Its surprising when you think of the strain on the medical professions in dealing with heart disease worldwide using stent's, bypasses, statins,
anticoagulants
, etc,etc Here's a few to google ; Trodusquemine( a single dose in mice completely reversed atherosclerosis) Cyclodextrin ( shown to dissolve

My concerns about anticoagulation ... foolish or appropriate?
I've noticed Forum members seem to be prescribed different
anticoagulants
, so how would I decide among them if I was given a choice? Any advice on these concerns of mine will be well received. Thanks.

Today is the day!
Hi everyone, I’ve received my parcel from Germany and supplies from the U.K. so think I’m going to do one tonight. Scared! I know it’s mind over matter. I remember that first blood thinner shot I had to give myself it took me ages to pluck up the courage to just do it! Thanks for everyone’s help with

Chad score of zero; no more anticoagulants?
I’m now in limbo! My brother told me a nurse has just diagnosed AF!
Anticoagulants
will very likely be suggested; the old tried and tested warfarin is derived from clover and although a bit of a faff (visiting blood test clinics) to get the right level, it is still preferred by some.

Disheartening news 😞☹️
My precious Jeff … They now think the cancer has spread to his brain sheath and spine. To confirm this, he has to have a spinal tap, but first has to be off blood thinners for 72 hours. If cancer is in the brain sheath, there’s basically nothing they can do. We start the countdown. Tomorrow they
