Should my dad continue docetaxel? He seems weakening so much.
My Dad with mHSPC (GS8 and PSA 50) and we found this in June 2022. ADT was first treated in July and Docetaxel was started in Aug. After the 5th injection of docetaxel, my dad at the age of 75 seems very weak. The PSA drop from initial 50 to 0.28 before the 5th docetaxel. The first 2 docetaxel seems

Ascende RT-trial
It has been five years since the trial was published. Basically it said for high risk patients the combo of ADT, Radiation and Brachy was the way to go. Brachy Boost is the term I think. I look on the internet for updates but can't find any. Anybody heard about any updates on this info or know anything

start Casodex or wait for 2nd opinion ?
Is it okay to wait 1-2 weeks to start Casodex in order to get a 2nd opinion on treatment / hormone therapy recommendations ? My relative just found out he is Gleason 9 and urologist wants to start him right away on Casodex and then Lupron shot in 2 weeks. After that he would start radiation in

I am still relatively new here and find myself reading the posts here each and every day. Yesterday, I received my HDBT treatment. 18 needles inserted with a dose of 15 Gy. Next week I will start my 25 days of EBRT and continue on with two years of ADT. One thing that I have often searched for is life

Statin Use and Survival Among Men Receiving Androgen-Ablative Therapies for Advanced PCa: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
New study from Canada. Laurence Klotz was a co-author. Yet another meta-analysis, but appearing in JAMA might help get the message out. "Twenty-five cohorts of 119,878 men (65,488 statin users [55%]) with more than 74,416 deaths were included. "Concurrent statin use was associated with a 27% reduction

Just getting started
Started my journey with a PSA of 13.7 in August of 2022. October brought the discovery of a lesion on the MRI scan. Later came the guided Biopsy with 12/15 cores positive with Stage 9 PC. Lastly, we had a PSMA PET scan which showed no spread outside the prostate. Ended up at MRiT3N0 M0 staging.

OVM-200 Phase 1 clinical trial ( vaccine)
I thought I would start a new thread as the original was about the decision making but now I’m in it I realise a clean thread may help. So today is day 15 of the trial and I am getting the second dose of the vaccine ( subject to clearing the screening this morning). I will then be observed for 4 hours

Recurrence and Arasec Phase 3
My husband has had CT's and PSMA that confirm recurrence in prostate and lesion at L-3. Biopsy confirms adenocarcinoma. Tomorrow we meet with MO and Arasec coordinators. We'll get treatment plans then. Tonight's question is about PSA numbers. Paul has never had a number above 45. In August his PSA

Low Hemoglobin
Hi all, hope to find you well :-) I am over 10 months with hormone therapy and PSA is <0.01. However, Hemoglobin has dropped to 10.4 slowly but steady ever since I started the treatmet. Iron and ferritin levels are high, but I can't get Hemoglobin levels to rise. I am doing a colonoscopy and an endoscopy

The term 'Castration' resistant/sensitive is offensive
The term 'Castration' resistant or sensitive has bothered me since I was told I had stage 4 metastatic castration sensitive PCa. Why isn't it called 'ADT' resistant/sensitive? It's bad enough with all the side effects we go through being on ADT, but then to be labeled with the term 'Castration' when

Statin Use Is Associated with Better Prognosis of Patients with Prostate Cancer after Definite Therapies:
A new meta-analysis of statin use and prostate cancer-specific mortality [PCSM] and all-cause mortality [ACM], below [1]. The analysis included 24 studies with 369,206 individuals. It has been known for a century that solid tumors accumulate cholesterol. That may be reason enough to initiate statin
