thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP)
Warriors: Recently, I posted about 1 year side effects. Thank you for all of your responses. My SEs got the best of me and I’m writing from a hospital bed. The current theory is I have TTP, which is associated with hormonal therapy. I wanted to write and see if any of you have had the misfortune

Prostate cancer treatment and IBS
Dear Friends and Sufferers! I've been diagnosed with prostate cancer and have the option of removing the prostate or radiotherapy with or without hormone treatment. Can anyone out there who has experience of these offer advise on their impact on IBS and bowel function? At the moment, I've got IBS looseness

Soy concerns
Hi, I have been focusing on the nutrition posts to improve my diet as I have osteopenia. I am reading a lot of posts and articles saying to incorporate soy. I stay away from soy because of breast cancer risks. I don't have breast cancer but avoid any estrogen enhancing products/medication like hormone

The importance of training your legs (if you can, of course)
Engaging in fitness activities is considered a standard of care (SOC) for many cancer patients, not only because it enhances overall health but also due to the chemical interactions between muscles and cancer cells. Comprehensive body training is essential, with an emphasis on targeting the body's largest

Locally Advanced PC - should I accept offer of docetaxel?
Hi I'm UK based, new to Health Unlocked and just starting to get to grips with the chats. I was diagnosed August '23 with locally advanced PV. Spread has occurred to a seminal vesicle and, very slightly, to a pelvic lymph node (Oncologist called it 'subtle') Gleason of 4+5. I immediately embarked

Androstenedione & Frailty
New study from Spain [1]. For many years, I used a product that probably contained DES (diethylstilbestrol) - perhaps 1 mg? My QoL was very good. When I eventually migrated to 3 mg DES - plus a shot of testosterone cypionate every 3 months - I began to feel frail. The new study associates high

Where do I go for alternative to continuous ADT?

Husband has passed
Well, group, sad news from our house. Pete has passed on. He seemed to be doing quite well with ADT treatment Lupron/ea 3 months, plus bone shot, and Abiraderone 250 mg daily for 2 1/2 yrs. Had all the terrible side effects you all experience. On no medication other than that. No other illnesses.

Dad with Stage 4 PCa - Need some words of wisdom...again please!
Hi everyone. Just got back from appointment with Dad's oncologist. To keep you up to speed - 3 months ago, his ADT injections stopped working and his PSA started to climb up slowly. Oncologist put Dad on Enzalutamide - been on it for 6 cycles - tolerated well but his PSA has gone from 76 to 87 in one

When To End An ADT Holiday
Just had a lengthy conversation with my MD Anderson MO who agrees with my Houston Methodist MO, i.e., it’s probably better, after an ADT holiday, to allow PSA to reach 0.5 so a PSMA scan can be used to identify any metastices, then zap the met(s), then go back on ADT to put the cancer back into remission

TRT Causing Breast Enlargement
Has anyone on this site experienced breast enlargement while on TRT? Just curious as to how common this is. Am considering it because two years after ADT. (18 months Lupron and Bicalutamide) my T level is 66, PSA .28.

Where to get Orgovyx?
Starting SBRT , likely next week with ADT starting at the time. I got my doc to prescribe Orgovyx rather than Lupron. On Medicare with Part D. Turns out Walgreens and Walmart cannot get Orgovyx. CVS said they could route it through a specialty pharmacy but could take 4 weeks. How have those of you taking

Let's change the way we're treated by adding metabolic therapy to SOC
Some good recent videos on a subject Dr. Thomas Seyfried: https://youtu.be/u2s6z37YIzM?si=UXIhw6X4T0nPwAyV PCa specific discussion on the same: https://youtu.be/RbrX_ZrYxJg?si=wTRoC7-f2N6RDTY0 I must add: I've been on low-carb diet (Atkins) since 1999 and recently (August of this year) started

1, 3 or 6 month ADT?
Originally, after a prostatectomy and 40 radiation treatments, I had a one month shot of Lupron followed by a six month shot of Lupron. My PSA went to undetectable. Seven years later my PSA crept up to seven and I was put on a monthly shot of Firmagon for life. My PSA is again undetectable and all scans

Big decsions regarding SRT/ADT due to BCR post RP
My husband was had a robotic radical prostatectomy 1/2019 with no major complications or side effects. Gleason 4+3, negative margins and no positive lymph nodes. There was cribiform invasion of a nerve but all margins of the prostate and 0/13 LN were negative after surgery. His post surgical PSA was

PSA Doubled in 2 Months
PSA end of August was 0.12 now 0.24. I met with 2 ROs to discuss treatment when my PSA was 0.20 a week ago . One suggested ADT 18-24 months and prostate bed radiation. Second RO says we can avoid ADT for now as he sees 0.70 as the value he believes requires ADT. I'm scheduled for F18 PSMA scan in early
