My New Leg - A Step Forward
The muscle loss in five weeks is incredible particularly around the left hip (the side of the

You guys have been posting lovely pictures so I thought I’d share one too. Meet Maxine/ Mad max, she was hit by a car before animal services picked her up and they decided to amputate. She spends most her days bathing in the sun or trying to be a lap dog 😂

Diabetes amputations taking off in Italy
From Medscape: 'Italian patients with diabetic foot ulceration (DFUs) suffered mightily during the height of the coronavirus pandemic in that country, according to a newly published study. Amid a mandatory national lockdown, the rates of amputations skyrocketed at a hospital far from the hardest-hit

Carlsberg don't make ankles....
The options I have been given are either fusing my knees and ankles or double
amputation
. So the first I will walk like a pirtae, the second I will forever be the pirate (to my friends children at least).

Amputation now on schedule
My husband is slowly waking after being sedated for four weeks. He is in a long-term acute care facility. I am unable to see him because of the COVID restrictions, but did FaceTime yesterday. During the morning session, he acted very sleepy and was not really with it, but in the afternoon, he actually

Sarcoma and my daughter
Evening my fellow MPNs Not sure if you remember I spoke about my daughter having Parosteal Osteosarcoma, again another very rare cancer like ours about seven weeks ago now, well this week she has had her operation on her thigh, this was the removal of her thigh bone and replaced with a Titanium bone

Toe amputation and vent wearning
Husband was transferred to a long-term acute care facility this past Saturday to help him wean from vent. He is still being vent-weaned. Now, they are saying his toes will have to be amputated because of damaged from the medicine used to keep his blood pressure elevated. The bad news just does not seem

When someone you’re in love with is gone by choice, if you knew what part of you still held on to hope that you’d reconcile, would you cut that part out of you? Is the pain worth it?

Shoulder pain with radiating pain/numbness
For reference, please see profile for history of my Dad:) My Dad experienced a pain in his right upper scapula radiating down into right arm along with his thumb and pointer finger numbness. He had an mri that showed possible compression at C6-7 but not clear if it’s a met or slipped disc... His last

Cirrhosis PAD diabetes and now a necrotic toe can it get any worse!!
4 days in hospital for an angiogram he’s totally confused again weak and wandering and they basically said an angioplasty only has low chance of success and significant risk of bleed or full limb
amputation
bypass is very high risk but we could amputate above the knee! For a toe!

Get checked!
I ended up needing emergency circumcision (literally blue lighted in am ambulance) and only narrowly avoided a complete
amputation
. I can laugh about it now... It was AGONY, humiliating, and neddless to say I couldnt shag for months. Don't do what i did!

RED January...
She has such a battle to face, not only with the cancer but with her
amputation
, I know she’s scared but just wants all this to finish. We all have our troubles I know and whatever we’re are facing personally is massive but stories like this always put things into perspective don’t they?
