Amitriptyline

I’ve been prescribed Amitriptyline for neurological pain after Varicose vein surgery at a 10mg dose. The doctor didn’t discuss my AF and I’m worried this new drug might be a dangerous combination.

Insomnia is one of my worse symptoms, I take 20mg of amitriptyline which has worked well for the last year, I sleep 12-7am. Since the latest Armour dose increase my insomnia has worsened and I’m wondering if it’s the timing of my afternoon dose. I usually take it around 2pm.

I have tried 3 previous preventative medication amitriptyline (made me very depressed) propranolol (didn't notice a change) and topiramate (made me very confused and forgot basic things like my address - would not recommend this medication!!).

The doctor has increased the amitriptyline that I take to see if that helps with the anxiety. I explained what I thought had made the tinnitus worse - Carol singing with ear plugs- but he did not think that would happen.?

I’ve been prescribed this drug to help with the pain in my feet keeping me awake at night. has anyone got any tips or experience, long term side effects etc? We take so many drugs I’m just a bit nervous. Stay warm all you lovely people out there. X

I’ve been prescribed Amitriptyline, naproxen, paracetamol, codeine, celecoxib, and now Mirtazapine. I take Laxidol for my bowels and Esomeprazole for my stomach. I also use a hormone pessary for bladder irritation and Zopiclone, when I can beg some. I’m beginning to think I have fibromyalgia.

Neurontin, Losartan, Amitriptyline, OMEPRAZOLE, Methotrexate, Furosemide, Amlodipine, Atorvastatin, Eternacept Injections, Prednisolone, Folic Acid, Aspirin and Aciferol(Colecalciferol).

I've been taking amitriptyline for 25 years for nerves of the bowel. I only take 30mg but they've suggested increasing it to help with cystitis. Has anyone taken amitriptyline for this pain? so drained any advice would be great. Thanks

He prescribed amitriptyline, leaving me to increase my dosage in 4 to 6 weeks if the symptoms weren't being controlled.

Meds On 100mg amitriptyline at night as well as prucalopride and laxido for chronic constipation Also fostair for asthma and montelukast for asthma. Last 3 weeks I've had horrible pain on my vulva and in my vagina.

Can I drink a glass of wine when taking amitriptyline?

I’ve been given amitriptyline but it’s knocking me out that much, the next day I can’t wake up and don’t feel safe driving to work etc. If anyone of you also suffer from this, what medication do you take for it? Thank you

My GP has prescribed Amitriptyline which has helped to keep me asleep during the night but waking can be a lottery sometimes ok but can be confusing with my brain in the middle of something, am also concerned about the side affects which include more tinnitus but I can't function without sleep

Currently I'm taking amitriptyline each night dose keeps being increased but I remain in pain. Is it better to now try something different? Thanks

I did try 2 years ago to remove it on a day I felt good and the next day I ended up in bed dosed up with Amitriptyline, and having to do almost nothing for over a week. The rest of the garden makes me look like the neighborhood slattern.

I now have the same feeling in my left arm and it is getting worse, I have a lot of other medical issues as well and I am taking Mizart 40 mg for blood pressure , I was taking Amitriptyline 10 mgs as well for the nerve pain I have but it wasn't working so I stopped it my Dr didn't ask me why I stopped

Before I had my surgery the pain was well managed by meloxicam and amitriptyline but then I had my first episode of AFib and they thought it may have been triggered by those drugs. So I was started on the holy grail of Bisoprolol, Edoxaban and Lipitor and told I’d need to mange on paracetamol.

Was on Pregabalin 300mg twice a day and Amitriptyline 30mg but have since stopped the Pregabalin and now only take Amitriptyline & paracetamol.

Can anyone who has tried this as part of their pain relief share their experience with amitriptyline please? I have just been prescribed this and hoping it will help with sleep if nothing else.
