Smelling smoke a week after bonfire
Burnt some infected conifer branches a week ago and the wind changed direction leaving me gasping for air and singed nose hair. Now I can't shake off the smell of smoke, tried umpteen nasal sprays and an irrigation and used a nose hair trimmer to no effect. It's worse at night trying to sleep, short

How long can a asthma episode last?
My daughter has had asthma symptoms for 14 days. Needing inhaler every 4 hours. She had 10 days of steroids and 10 days of antibiotics for a chest infection. As you can imagine she is shacking. We have been to the doctors twice, oxygen level been good at 97. I mentioned if they just gave her a NEB the

Considering whether the AFib is from asthma inhaler.
With PMR we have other comorbidities. As I tapered My pred from 8 to 7 3/4 I noticed increased palpitations …? Blame it on prednisone? Adrenal insufficiency ? My asthma inhaler? I decided to contact my pulmonary to, perhaps, change the inhaler, Breo, which has arrhythmia as an adverse effect. A person

Newly opened inhaler shakes
Hi all I’ve been on Symbicort 200/6 Turbohaler (plus other meds) for the last 18 months or so. I wonder if anyone else finds that they get the shakes for a couple of days when using a newly opened inhaler ? Once the inhaler has been opened and used for a 3 or 4 days this seems to stop. As soon

Absolute newbie!
I’m starting C25k (with my very reluctant husband!) and I’m a bit nervous! I have osteoarthritis in my knees and I’m mildly asthmatic (use Ventolin inhaler very occasionally!) I cannot imagine being able to run (I walk a lot) how difficult has it been for people-honestly??! 🫣😁

What would you say to her?
This friend I have (a very new friend) watched me have a asthma attack not a big one, not a problem because I take my inhaler everywhere, then she asked me what it’s like to have a asthma attack, I explained in a basic way because I was kind of embarrassed, but then she said something like, that sounds

Inhalers.......
Not sure if anyone can help. My 84 year old husband has bronchiestatis and maybe other lung conditions. He also has Acid Reflux and this can result in lung infections if the food gets into his lungs - the specialist told him this. However he has now decided NOT to use the spacer but to squirt the Fortistair

Hi, Just wondered whether anyone else is having a problem getting this inhaler? My pharmacy has tried 3 suppliers and can't get it. I'm just wondering whether it's worth ringing round bigger pharmacies?

Infuriating Asthma Appointment
So i had a follow-up appointment with my asthma consultant at the hospital today and he told me that he doesn't think I have asthma despite the fact that I have been diagnosed asthmatic most of my life and that I don't need to take inhalers or nebulisers or use steroids and antibiotics. He believes this

Physical Activity & COPD resulting in sickness
Hi everyone, I'm new here and hope you don't mind me joining you! As a bit of background, my Mum is in her mid 70's and has been diagnosed with COPD for around 10 years. To date, its mostly been treated with inhalers as and when needed and for a long time she's been (relatively) fit - up until Covid

Bruising from high dose steroid inhaler
I have been taking fostair net 200/6 2 puffs twice a day for over 4 years. Lately in the last year I bruise more easily than I did before. I rang asthma UK helpline this afternoon and if my inhaler is the cause. The nurse said it could be the reason. She did also ask about my asthma and how many

Update on New Inhaler
So I went back to the doctors yesterday and was seen by the locum who said that my chest is clear and she would speak with the doctor about what to do next and she would phone me which she did to tell me that she didn’t get chance to speak to him because he dashed off, so this morning I phoned back and

Trelegy Ellipta
Diagnosed with late onset asthma recently. Prescribed Fostair 200/6 but suffered terrible cramps., especially at night and when exercising. I know this is associated with potassium levels and therefore increased intake of potassium high fruit and veg, but didn’t help. Consultant prescribed Montekulast

Happy Monday 😊
Good morning all, well after finally getting an appointment with the Chest clinic at the hospital, after my phoned appointment was cancelled four times. I got to see a specialist. I have had COPD for years now, taken lots of different inhalers. The specialist told me I have severe COPD, and told Trimbow

Flying with Bronchiectasis ?
Please can you tell me about your experience flying with Bronchiectasis? I have looked online and the advice is very confusing. I was diagnosed with mild Bronch and possibly asthma last year. I currently have 2 inhalers ( Ventolin and Fostaire) and I am taking Azithromycin 3 days a week. I would

Trelegy inhaler
Good morning, I just have a question. Recently my preventer inhaler was changed to Trelegy. It has been much better for my breathing. However, i am suffering with my eyes at the moment and hope it isn’t a side effect which apparently it can be. Has anyone had the same problem if taking Trelegy? I have

Provisional diagnosis...does it sound like allergic asthma?
Is daily, chronic phlegm a feature that many people here experience with asthma? I have a provisional asthma diagnosis from GP, and have been on the lowest dose of reliever and preventer inhalers for three months. I am also taking an antihistamine (allergic to pet dander- I have two pets and have done
