Asthma and B12

Hi Guys

Some insight / info for general discussion and rumination!

I did not have asthma or hay fever as a child.

I developed Asthma in my 30’s and when pregnant 20 years ago it was really bad.

I have attended an asthma clinic each year with GP to review treatment - usually to continue with steroid preventer and reliever inhalers.

Just due my annual asthma check up and I realise I have not used any of my inhalers preventer or reliever since January this year. No hay fever either this year (as I just sneeze on cue 😂)

I wonder if it’s a coincidence that since injecting B12 every other day and now daily, my asthma appears to have cleared.

Anyone else have a similar experience? B12 is a cheaper treatment and has no side effects unlike my inhalers! 🤗🤗🤗

I've had asthma/hay fever since I was a child. I can't say that I've noticed any improvement since starting on jabs at all.

B12 seems to sometimes cure random issues. I had plantar fasciitis which disappeared after my loading doses. My daughter had some kind of eczema or psoriasis which also disappeared after starting B12 injections, though it took 6 months to completely go away.

Hi, I don't have asthma, but since a teenager I've had painful knees ( diagnosed as chondromalacia ) and in my forties developed carpal tunnel syndrome. Since treatment with B12 injections these conditions have mysteriously vanished!

Don't know how - but hurrah ! 😀

One little plus against all the other horrible manifestations of B12 deficiency ! 🙄

Best wishes x

I keep telling my asthma nurse that it's not asthma but under-treated B12 deficiency - I use alot of Ventolin reliever and refuse steroid inhalers for breathlessness but never have attacks.

Problem is surgery gets paid extra for asthma monitoring and nothing for B12 deficiency

Yes it is possible. I find it probable that if you were functionally B12 deficient 20 years ago it is unlikely you would have been diagnosed.

My breathing has improved from 25 years ago. My liver function is now within range. My EKG is now normal. (It was noted it was not normal but no action to be taken.)

My thumb which was cut in an accident now has feeling and the cold does not affect it.

These changes did not happen with conventional amounts and frequencies.

My understanding is the issue for some people is a hematological/Intrinsic Factor issue. Conventional treatment is designed for this and effective. It is my understanding that some people experience transcobalamin issues and IF issues. Referred to as functionally B12 deficiency. Conventional treatment for both is the same for reasons not scientifically sound.

There are unexpected/known/predicted benefits of B12. The mystery is that why is not understood.

Doing unconventional self treatment means the results are not known. Using critical thinking and risking unconventional methods is scary. My results are positive.

Hi,

That’s really strange you should say that because I suffered with really bad hayfever from my early twenties which developed into bad asthma. I only needed my inhaler during hayfever season but since I was diagnosed with Pernicious Anaemia and having B12 injections since 2010 I haven’t needed to use my inhaler and my hayfever doesn’t develop into asthma any more. I wonder if there’s some connection?

Hi All

So based on majority responses it would appear that potentially “asthma” could be a mis-diagnosis in some cases.

My asthma nurse constantly said it was impossible for my preventer (which I used as a reliever to work). Fact is I got more relief from the preventer when my chest got tight. Never had an asthma “attack” as such except when I was pregnant.

Interesting. Thank you for your feedback. We will see what Asthma Nurse says this year 😂😂😂

I think it is worth noting that it may be a case of B12 affecting asthma only if enough B12 is administered.

Hi Wiz

That’s an excellent thought! I have absolutely no intention of reducing to less than 1500ug B12 everyday for the foreseeable future.

I was so concerned about the animals in the heat that I went out to check them before injecting. It was only when my jaw started to ache and I was bumping into things and getting disoriented doing a task that I realised I was 4 hours late. Needless to say that I am still on catch up - my legs are aching tonight but it has been a very hot on the go day worrying about the animals in the heat. But despite walking up and down steep hay fields three times today no shortness of breath or hay fever at all - not even a 🤧 sneeze!

Keep thinking Wiz - just love your perspective. 🤗🤗🤗🤗

I started to develop a mild asthma in my early 40s. I still have hayfever (in spring very badly). I didn't notice any changes with asthma with the b12; however, my asthma is mild. I notice it when I ride my bike up in the mountains.

The only thing that has ever completely taken it away was being on keto. so for me there must be a connection with the inflammation I get when I eat carb/sugar. But I'm severely insulin resistant (was full blown diabetic in my early 20s).

Although, before injections I had shortness of breath, heart pounding at night, and a very high resting heart rage (105 bpm). All of which were resolved by b12.
