liver
Hi Bettina in one word yes! It's a build-up of fat in the liver
There is different causes of fat in the liver..some can be diet related but there are other causes that need to be discussed by your doctor!
Good news is the fat if related to diet it can be stopped and disappear if the cause is treated healthy eating and exercise to keep weight down also helps
❤
Bettina2023, my advice is for you not to lose track of your condition. I was diagnosed with a fatty liver (with gallstones) 17 years ago, for which my GP had not heard of it and nothing was ever explained; it is a silent condition. I don't drink and was given a 5mg mild statin to take daily. Fast forward to 7 years ago, I had a scan for an unrelated issue and that was fine but it was found I had Cirrhosis! I was shocked to the core (still am!). As part of NICE Guidelines, my condition is managed by Hepatologist and monitored with 2 ultrasounds and 1 endoscopy yearly. For me it is a 'watch and wait' situation.
If you would find it useful to talk things over, our nurse-led helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm on 0800 652 7330 (excluding bank holidays)
Best wishes
