Has anyone had cateract surgery while on 17.5 (or similar) dose of prednisone? Is infection a problem with that high of a dose?

I'm fairly sure someone has - but they may not see your post. Very much up to the eye surgeon - have you discussed it with them?

I had cataract surgery on both eyes on close to 15mg. The anesthesiologist gave me a shot of prednisone before my surgery and I had no ill effects. Let them know about how much you take and they will give you what you need.

You should be fine. Then follow the eye drop schedule. If you have issues with really dry eyes let them know. I had to stop one of them at one point because I was allergic to it. Hopefully you will not have any issues. Praying it all goes well.
