The journey begins...
I developed an
addiction
to food in my early 20s and it has consumed my life ever since. I was always at a healthy weight before this point. Before I started eating emotionally I was 85kg at 6ft tall, I am now 122.9kg at 6 ft tall.

Coping strategies needed
I am struggling with a " unconscious.
addiction
to self sabotoge" . It's pretty scary. A lot og risks involved. It's like I have " no brakes" . It's easy to give in to suicidal despair. So despondent. But I keep doing the same damnbthing over and over. After telling myself each time.

Long time no see - I've developed a paramedic addiction
So I've been poorly. Really poorly complete with trip in an ambulance to medical assessment (a bit like A&E but with a gp referral) and we had to call out 999 again and had rapid response out to me. We still don't actaully know what's wrong. It could 'just' be a lower respiratory tract infection with

Small Steps...
I've stayed away from temptation to do things just to take my mind off my depression - they are an
addiction
. Giving me a high only to make the low even worse.

Completed my week 1 run 3
Can't believe I ditched running a few months ago :) Glad to be back on it and feeling the
addiction
starting to slowly kick it. The weather was in my favour too so it was a real treat! I am looking forward to starting week 2 on Tuesday.

Happy Days
To me "giving up" insinuates that it was a pleasant pastime, rather than an evil
addiction
!! I stropped around 18 months ago in preparation for some minor surgery and to avoid anaesthetic problems.

Steroid addiction withdrawal.
My 17 year old has stopped using his creams for 5 months now. He has found it impossible to function on some days and the first two weeks he was a raw, lobster red, skin shedding wreck. I just read this and thought it may help us all
There is no such thing as just one for me, or the other greater than 90% of the smokers out there who smoke whenever their
addiction
demands that they smoke.

W4R1...who'd have believed I could run for 5 mins?
I usually do Monday, Wednesday & Friday runs, but couldn 't wait to get out there to see if the 3 & 5 minute runs were possible (think the
addiction
has set in). Great to see so many others ticking off the runs ahead of me, & the newbies starting out, all posting here...you are a great help!

1st run
I played semi pro football for over 20 years and was quite fit....although I was smoking the training seemed to counteract my
addiction
, I normally trained 3 times a week and played 2 games a week during a normal season...pre seasons were hard but my body was tuned for this sort of activity.

Just starting..bring it on!
I have attempted over 100+ times but feel more confident after reading everyone's stories....I love it how only a smoker can really understand the reality of these stories ....I have come to believe the more knowledge on this
addiction
the better.

The panic is back...damn it Chloe! !
I know that the 12 step programme used by A A. ..and other
addiction
groups works. I've seen it work in my own family. The condition is never healed but kept in check through sharing your thoughts and feelings with other addicts. So who wants to give this ago?

NON SMOKING TREATMENTS
You'll be assessed to get an idea of your level of
addiction
and to outline the benefits of quitting. This is also a chance to identify potential triggers, such as if you live with others who smoke or you're under stress. Your GP can prescribe several different stop smoking treatments.
