I know it's 3 years later but I wanted to write this in case someone needed to see. This thread helped me so much when my dad was in the ICU on a ventilator. When they took my dad off of sedation he didn't wake up right away. He is a peritoneal dialysis patient and drugs leave his system much slower.

A surprising week away
I thought I would post this experience as it may help others with the confidence to do more with this awful bowel condition. Most of my 2022 was spent living practically like a hermit. From about April onwards I became so despondent about this condition and convinced myself my life was basically over

Meds to slow motility
In my now full year of bowel problems (started with mainly diarrhoea, then changed to mixed, now seems to be more on the formed side, with the occasional explosion!), I have found that the only thing which gives me confidence to go out and do things is a Loperamide in the morning. It stops the flow

disaster in holiday
I am on holiday with my grandchildren at moment and I have had two episodes of
accidents
with severe diarrhoea with no warning and unable to get to a toilet. I am mortified and feeling unable to face the world. Why has this started to happen. I have no idea how to deal with this.

Itchiness is fading away...
I have had PV for ten years and am a 66 year old male. Phlebotomies & aspirin worked well for that time. Aquagenic priurits (itchiness on contact with water) had become unbearable by June 2022. I went onto 500mg per day HU (Hydroxyurea). The itchiness started to decrease and now after 6 months has almost

how long to plan for disimpaction?
My 5 year old boy has been having poo
accidents
since he was toilet trained at 3. Last year we were referred to the bladder and bowel service after a lot of persuading the health visitor. We have had 2 appointments with them.

Hello everybody... welcome to 2023! It is so good to see you here in the corner...the weather may have warmed up a tad, but the fire is still glowing and the cushions are here, ready for you all. I really hope that some of you have found some time to relax over the last few days, and have maybe had

Loperamide
When my ibs plays up the first sign for me is chronic lower stomach pain. Which gets really severe when I am on the loo, once my bowel is completely empty I have no pain and feel great until next time which could be in days or weeks. My question is, as often recommended, should I take loperamide as I

Final stages of CBD
Hi all My dad is in the final stages of CBD and in fact the Palliative Care Consultant seems to think we have less than 3 months left with him. I am really really struggling with this and can't bear the thought of not having my dad but this illness is the cruellest illness I have ever encountered.

hiccups after surgery
hi not sure if this is the rightforum, but my father had an epidural to numb his nerves to get knees operated on. He developed a severe case of hiccups for 2 weeks after that, which made him very frail and deprressed. They seemed to clear up with some medication. 4 years dow the line and they have

Could a previous diagnosis of brachial neuritis be a warning sign of PMR?
Before was finally diagnosed with GCA/LVV + PMR in March this year, I had been to my GP a few years ago with extreme pain going from my neck to my arm (one side only, severe, and enough to reduce me to tears because there seemed to be no way, no position, no medication that alleviated the torture). Dx

Are sleeping tablets suitable for someone with psp?
I'm just worried if she uses sleeping tablets she may start having
accidents
in the bed. I would be grateful if anyone has any experience with this as its truly exhausting having a lack of sleep. Thankyou.
