hiccups after surgery

hi

not sure if this is the rightforum, but my father had an epidural to numb his nerves to get knees operated on. He developed a severe case of hiccups for 2 weeks after that, which made him very frail and deprressed. They seemed to clear up with some medication. 4 years dow the line and they have come back out of the blue and caused him untold stress. I am worried as he is vomiting and getting very weak. TOOK HIM A AND E AND THEY WERE NOT MUCH HELP.

is there such a thing as a hiccup specialist or has anybody experienced this issue or can point me in right direction?

much appreciated

Sorry this is not the right forum for this question. But please ask the GP about acid reflux as that can cause hiccups.

Sorry about this - it can be very stressful - maybe someone here had a similar experience but it's not related to PSP

Have you considered seeing a maxillofacial surgeon or consultant. They specialise in the face and neck area.

I remembered some previous questions about hiccups and did a quick search on the site. A couple of people report prescriptions that helped. I recommend doing the search. It will get information from all the various groups in HealthUnlocked. I’m sorry your father is suffering so.

Thank you for your help. Sorry for posting wrongly on your forum, gets a bit confusing. Wish you all the best of health and luck.

hey, it never hurts to ask! The only reason it could be a ‘wrong’ forum is if you can’t get directed to good information at all. And now I just want to ask whether your father is any better?
