Visit to my Physio yesterday - Update.

I saw my lovely physio yesterday. I haven’t seen him for over two years. Just goes to show I am doing something right 😀.

I went with more of a niggle than a pain in my hamstrings, ( yes both of them)

The good news is that there is not an injury at all, all ligaments and tendons are perfect, there is just tightness in the middle of them and lack of Strength that is causing issues.

My ankles are very weak, one legged standing on tip toes for this.

My glutes are tight and weak, a selection of bridges for this, including doing one rolling on a stability ball up and down with my feet, very very hard but boy can I feel it working.

Squats, there had to be squats, didn’t there, 🤪 but I have to hold at the bottom and squeeze at the top.

Then a few hamstring stretches, these ones I hate as you have to straighten you leg while stretching it to the ceiling (picture above) and I don’t get anywhere near a straight leg, but I will add in YET, as I know those will help and you never know maybe one day I will look like the picture 😀.

I have to do these three times a week on non running days, for three weeks then Go back and see him. He is sure that these will help my Morton’s neuroma and just generally make my running and race walking easier.

Now I wish I had gone weeks ago, but I am terrible about putting things like this off 😀.

So these are all now part of my April Challenge,

Have a great week everyone

Rfc x

Good luck to you RFC regarding those exercises, you will soon be back to your long runs again, I 'tried' that exercise in the picture, yes, if you put your leg straight up it does get sore, but with practice, it will become easier.

Thank you, I am allowed to do long runs as well as he knows I have a HM in 5 weeks, just back from a 17km. Will do all the Strength work tomorrow. Rfc x

Phew, sounds like an MOT of the legs Rfc !😊

You passed... but require some tweaking😆

Good luck with those exercises, some are included in a couple of those videos you posted the other day which might make them more fun to do...

Having the return appointment should be enough incentive though...for your retest!😉xxx

He says if I do the work it should help the pain of my Morton’s neuromas, that is all the incentive I need just back from a 17km and it flared up again at 9km. I will be doing all of the exercises tomorrow 😀.

We're Physio twinsies 😊. I also visited mine after a long hiatus to check on a tight hamstring and bum cheek. I found out I have a weak gluteus medius so lots of squats, lunges, deadlifts, leg lifts and that stretch you showed above in addition to continuing with my piriformis stretches. We'll have buns of steel in no time 😂

I like that, who would of thought I could possibly have buns of steel in my 50’s 😀. Good luck with all your exercises. Rfc x

That’s great news... and of course our least favourite exercises are the ones that will help most!

Of course they are, I wonder why that is? Maybe I really do have to work on burpees if that is the case 😂.

When I see a physio my first words will be “I love burpees” just in case

Excellent :)

This is making me look forward to my physio appointment on Thursday. I last went this time last year with posterior tibial tendonitis which put me out of running for 6 months! :( I've been doing lots of strength training since though so am hoping that's improved things.

I love my physio appointments, hehe aside from the price and the pain. 😀. I get to have a good old natter about running and loads of tips while he works. Good luck for Thursday. Rfc x

That is great to hear, I was really shocked at my lack of balance on one tip toe.☹️
