I love being teacher’s pet and getting a gold star from my physio 😀. He is really pleased with the work I have put in and the way my muscles have reacted.
We have worked out with gait analysis which portion of my run/walk is putting the most pressure on my right hamstring and how to limit the stress.
Apparently my run form is great as is my walking, it was just at the end when he turned the treadmill down and I transitioned into my walk the hamstring pulled. Apparently I over stretch as I transition so I have to shorted my stride then to protect the hamstrings as they Strengthen.
So just as Important as my running and walking is my strength work. Also he want me to trial it all on a 17km tomorrow. Then back down on the distance until the event while really working on building up on non running days.
All good apart from he has asked me to seriously consider doing 10km running events only for a couple of years to really build up my leg muscles after the break with the op in 2017. Sometimes we are not as completely strong as we think we are.
That is unless I get the ballot entry for the London Marathon 2020 place, (if I do I will walk it😀). He said it was amazing yesterday he was still beaming from his 3:07:56. Time 😀.

Congratulations to your physio on that fantastic time of 3.07.56, remember when we were following him yesterday on that LM. App he went through the 5K point at around 22 minutes, I thought that he couldn't keep up that pace for the remaining 37 kilometers, but he did, I am sure you will have congratulated him for that excellent time, I hope you are successful on getting a place in the 2020 London Marathon, cheekychipmunks has also applied for next year's LM as well.
He was so touched we were watching him and cheering him on. You wouldn’t of known he had done it until he was seeing how my exercises were doing on the mat and he knelt down, you could see the facial expression change as the sore muscles hit him. He is young so he will bounce back very fast. He loved everything about it.
Thank you. 17km worth of practice tomorrow 😳, he wants me to email him and let him know how it went. I said your checking I do it aren’t you and he just smiled.
That's great news. You're absolutely right about not being as strong as we think we are. After a year of Body Pump and Body Combat, I'm shocked that my glutes are as weak as my sports therapist is telling me. Apparently, my quads are doing most of the work. I shouldn't be surprised as it's always been my quads that are on fire after a good Body Pump session. I need to do glute activation exercises now prior to any workout.
Whilst on the injury couch from running at the moment, I'm really debating just sticking at 5km 2x a week for the rest of the year (once I get back to it) and incorporating either swimming or cycling with the strength training. I'm just too injury prone to rush things … which I always do!
I love watching VLM every year but it's definitely not a race I aspire to taking part in. The most I would like to go for is a half marathon … but not until 2021 at this rate as I can't even get to 8km without getting injured!
He has said because they cut from the front to get to the kidney it will take a lot to heal completely so the two HM’s I did last year with hindsight I should of waited until now, but you are right we can’t feel the little weaknesses, they have to be pointed out, good news is after they are pointed out we will all be so much stronger 😀. Take it easy as you come back, I am going to do a few little speed runs on non strength days as well as I think they will compliment each other. Take care and speedy recovery. Rfc x
