It had best do after this one! I would have posted a picture of me doing this workout, but it wouldn’t have been a pretty sight.
So... the bit I was dreading... squat hold 30 seconds... absolutely loved it! So much easier than a wall sit... second time around I accepted the offer to go lower half way through... I nearly had my butt on the floor. I was so proud. Also after the second one the speed squats were good, like being set free! So... after the first set was the bit I’d been looking forwards to... backward hip circles and the forward ones, a nice gentle looking lie down. OH MY GOD they hurt! Just about managed to keep going on those.
24 minutes, plenty of sweating, 140 calories burned... which is less than it felt 😂
Earlier I’d done my dumbbell session and for lunch today I said little miss UNM could have a chip muffin (barm/bap/roll/tea cake/I’ve probably missed some other names for it) from the chippy... so we walked the 5k to the chippy and walked the 800m back 😂. She wasn’t impressed with my route planning, but if we are to eat some junk, we shall first burn some!
I’d recommend this workout... it’s all leg work and I can just feel how good that is for running... so, it nearly beat me but is now in my favourites section.

I picked some Nike leggings up when I was shopping with little miss UNM recently... the “£6” at the beginning of the price and the next bit not being “.” made me put them down again pretty quickly 😂
WHAT??? Nah there is no point spending that much. I'd rather have a nice colourful selection. Having to run in black shorter ones at the moment, not so fun...
I am learning. I had no idea that leggings could be that expensive. Do they run for you or sing to you or do ANYTHING special? Maybe you get them free when you buy those £400 shoes...
Having looked at all their website, there are many more... Som of them make it hard for your eyes to focus, I might go for that then no one will be able to see how untoned i am 🤣 Having seen mo farah with tubes on his legs I wonder about that plus shorts. That might be a good look...
In theory they improve blood circulation... well actually it’s not theory they’ve been used surgically for a long time. The benefits after a run are pretty much proven, they aid recovery... as for them helping a run, the jury is out and may never have a verdict. Paula Radcliffe ran the best ever women’s marathon in compression socks and also has some other unproven things going on... nobody has got close to her time since. Is the placebo effect doping too? Or is there something in it? Who knows.
I did the NRC run with her and it was good. She didn’t reach her goal first time round in Seniors and tried and tried again. I also sat on a sofa with her in 2013 and wish I could go back there now for a chat...
Might see if I can find some discounted compression things then I could run with shorts. I don’t anymore because (bit fat) last time I used them I felt really unsupported and my legs felt much tireder. This was probably a decade ago... so those tubes might sort out my over heating and my need for constriction.
Give them a go... they won’t harm... and they’re so good the day after!
You met one of my heroes! No keeping her down... those marathons took a toll on her, but now it’s one of the longest standing records in women’s athletics... I loved her in my ears on that run.
Yeah she’s an amazing athlete. I sat down as my feet were killing me and then I looked around and she was next to me. I was a bit awe struck. Now I would have loads of questions...

Love the idea of your route planning. 😂😂😂. I am With you the calorie burn for a great workout it doesn't seem fair, but It comes into play later on as we build our muscles, I like the fact we can burn more calories sitting around 😂😂😂. Some workout feel like they should be 1000 kcal plus to me 😀. After my HM I might have a go at this one. I want to do some real toning workouts when I have recovered.
It was fun... and now I’ve taken on a banana and some more water I’m feeling great... certainly felt the burn during it. 140 for that does seem harsh... running a mile would have been easier... but I guess while hurting those hip circles aren’t exactly high energy.
So today is the first time I’ve hit upper and lower body with functional strength workouts on the same day... low impact leg work so I’d be good to run tomorrow... I may partner these up again.
Oooh er! Any volunteers? I'm picturing a couple of hunky, helpful blokes willing to help an old lady to her feet again and again without minding the odd swear word 😂 (just don't anyone tell Mr grumpy, he might not understand)
