Messed my timing up, as Julius Caesar would have been better off running on this day! Luckily nobody is trying to stab me in the back 😂
So, this is my half time report and so far so good. RED January started us off and RED February and March followed. Yesterday I had a great run, but today for the first time this year my get up and go seems to have gone before I woke up! Really don’t feel like doing anything, so am going to drag myself out for a 10 minute brisk walk at 9, another at 12 and one early evening. My mojo is out there somewhere so three different routes and I’ll find it!
So far this month Active 10 has been achieved at least 3 times a day, and I’m feeling great for it. Strength work is also having an effect, I actually appear to have signs of muscle development in arms and upper body. Flexibility is also improving, I’m working on that weekly as part of my running plan as well as my post run stretches. What I am noticing this month is my mental health is great... while I don’t have a diagnosed condition, I do suffer the blues a lot. This was banished on my running days but it’s starting to reduce on my non-running days too.
All ways up I really wish I’d done this last year, or maybe 30 years ago. I wouldn’t have been able to do what I’m doing now this time last year, but I could have done a little of something at first and built it up slowly. There were, and are, still things I cannot do (sit-ups!) but I will get there if I keep developing my abilities.
If you’re stating out, keep it comfortable for a while... allow the fitness, flexibility and strength to grow. Your abilities will improve month on month, and you’ll soon be a better version of yourself.
I’m also aware that relentless increasing isn’t good in my running, and periods of consolidation are beneficial. Realfoodieclub pointed out to me the other day that the same applies to other exercise. So I’m now looking at not increasing my workload one week in 6 in my other exercise.
I’ve learned a lot during my time on Health Unlocked... thanks for everything guys.
