Dear all, I wanted to ask if anyone was diagnosed with Scleroderma after receiving chemotherapy treatment for a breast cancer? That is what happened to my friend’s mother. The strange thing - they didn’t even take her ANA blood test. They diagnosed her with SS as one of her breast had a dry/shiny patch on the skin and got smaller. Should she insist on a proper examination or is it normal to be diagnosed just by finding a skin sclerosis?

I had an operation for DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ), followed by radiography. About 2 yrs after that, I was sent off to the Royal Free where they diagnosed scleroderma. However, I cannot say whether it was there all along, even before the operation, as the consultants were having difficulties diagnosing my condition. It's all a bit of a mystery.
Many thanks for the reply. I will forward it to my friend. Sv
