3rd recurrence

Hello everyone , I’ve just recurred for the 3rd time, had 1 dose of chemo already , just carboplatin as had booked a little holiday to wales and wanted to enjoy it. Going to start carboplatin and caelyx tomorrow then5 more. First diagnosed July 17, recurred August 19 and now. Parps didn’t work for me. Has anyone had a 3rd recurrence and then done all right for a while. I’m scared it’s going to come straight back or chemo won’t work . Any words of comfort or reassurance would be great . Thanks.

Suggest researching clinical trials incase needed in the future.

Hi. There are people who manage to stay reasonably well for years on different chemo. As Neona suggests it would be good to look for trials. Best luck!

I am so sorry you are having a rough time! I was diagnosed with stage 3 Fallopian tube ca back in 2019. I had Carbo and taxol every week for 12 weeks it was rough but I am currently cancer free. I have scans in September. I hope it works for you Fiesta. I am thinking about you

Hi FiestaS

Sorry your missing your little holiday. I know the disappointment.

I am on my fifth occurrence.

There always seems to be a new treatment that the experts manage to find. I’m feeling very positive. This time it’s carbo/gem.

Best wishes

Kathy

Thanks for your reply . When were you originally diagnosed? Feeling a bit less anxious today. One day at a time.

I’m glad your feeling less anxious.

My diagnosis and treatment started in 2014. Seems to be a new treatment every year.

Aloha! I had my 3rd occurrence in May 2019. I'm still in treatment, but so far, so good. Hang in there! Carboplatin will give the tumor a good punch. Take care! Rhonda

I do feel for you and wish I had some experience of chemo to talk about but due to start on 9th September. Are you in the USA because you've had some chemo already and you were diagnosed mid-July? I was diagnosed 2weeks later and treatment only due to start on the 9th. Knowing this lovely website you will soon get some good feedback. Take care

Hi I got my scan results and started chemo right after my consultant appointment the following week 6th August. But the first chemo was just carboplatin because of my holiday. I’m in the UK. Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I am a bit confused by your post. If you were just diagnosed on July 17th, and then recurred August 19th, that doesn't seem possible. Are you saying2017 and 2019 (years, instead of days?) Sometimes the UK confuses me with dates LOL. I know several women who've had recurrences and are still here. Some continue to fight, and others are NED. There is an Ovarian Cancer Facebook page that I follow, and I see several women post positively on that. Every woman is different, so the 3rd time may be your charm! What is Caelyx? I've never heard of that chemo, but then again I'm in the States, and it may not be a frontline treatment here.

Hi yes years not days. Caelyx is called something else in America I think.? Doxorubicin maybe? Thanks for your reply. Yes will try and be positive.

I'm in a cancer support group in the US where a woman has been Stage 4 for almost 10 years now. Anything is possible with faith. Please stay positive. Sending you a hug and love and positive vibes. All the best

First diagnosed 2018 .treatment finished 2019, just been told has reoccurred, waiting to restart chemo. So glad I came onto this site and realised I’m not alone with this coming back and perhaps a little more hopeful I can keep going. Feeling panicked.
