Cataract Surgery?

I was wondering if anyone has had cataract surgery on Ibrance and also blood thinners? I am going back on Ibrance but have continued taking letrozole and eliquis (blood thinner). Long story short I have been off Ibrance since August and due to go back on Ibrance in November. I have been doing chemo/radiation since then for limited stage small cell lung cancer. - one more and final set of chemo coming up. Radiation was completed September 19th. Yay! And yup, I have a double whammy since I was diagnosed in July with SCLC (on top of stage 4 metastatic breast cancer diagnosed Aug 2023). I also start on immunotherapy in November, a drug called imfinzi - a once a month infusion. I have a cataract in my right eye (the left eye was fixed as good as new 2019.) and I want to get the right eye done. I know that driving at night is getting difficult with the cataract. Any advice for this kind of surgery? Thank you!! Alicia

Sorry no advice for cataracts. But I have significant mets to my lungs (reduced to 30% function) and have morphed differently from the other mets in my liver and bones. I was coughing constantly and short of breath both from the coughing and with any kind of activity (stairs or short walks). So I just wanted to share that I took some supplements, Liposomal Glutathione 300mg and NAC 600mg (4 times a day), and these made a huge difference to my lungs. Also took curcumin for inflammation. In just two days it improved immensely (cough was practically gone which was a huge relief, just settled things down). I then adjusted to twice a day after about 4-5 days just to ensure it was going to last. I went from being on oxygen regularly to not needing it. Lots of research on both supplements as support for improving many types of lung conditions. A support for reducing symptoms and improving quality of life. I don’t know about your symptoms but just in case it gets bad, thought I’d share.

Right now I am not allowed supplements but when I am allowed I will definitely try it. I also have mets to my lungs and in my right lung just one tumor of small cell lung cancer. My oncologist says she can cure this. Wow improvement that quick!! I am going to ask next appointment if I can have them. I will show your text to my oncologist. Thank you for sharing with me I will try it.

Hi monkeygirl. My Mom actually had both eyes done for cataracts last year while she was on Ibrance (not on blood thinner). She had no problem what so ever and very happy she no longer needed glasses to watch her tv! lol unfortunately a few month later she did get taken off Ibrance for shortness of breath, but nothing to do with cataracts. Everything went smooth with that. She did schedule the eye surgery on her off week of Ibrance. We did inform eye Dr of meds she was on and her condition and her Onc approved for her to have done. They do prescribed daily eye drops, I think one was a steroid. But again, Onc and Eye Dr. said ok to have done and it was safe. Everything worked out well. Hope this gives some comfort.
