Got my scan result today

And I'm afraid it wasn't good news.

Thank you for all your support last week, it helped so much.

I was due for my 4th cycle of intravenous chemo this afternoon. I'd had a call yesterday to say my scan was being read and could I go in early to see the oncologist as hopefully the results would be available.

My bone mets and original liver mets are stable, and the lung damage caused by the afinitor is improved but there are 2 new liver mets. Because of this my chemo was cancelled and I had blood tests to see if I was suitable for Xeloda. I should get the results in 2 weeks time, so more waiting.

A mixed report. At least what’s there is stable. Pray they will find a chemo that kills the sh!t Sorry, I’m just getting so angry that so many have to go thru this. Sending love and you know I know and that so many here stand with you.

I wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you. I'm glad to hear that you have experienced a partial response from the chemotherapy, but sorry that you now have two new metastases. Can you ask about having some other treatment to zap the liver metastases? Is radiotherapy or some other treatment an option for your liver? I hope you get your results so you can start your new treatment soon.

Thanks Sophie 🙂 Unfortunately my oncologist won't consider radiation, I've asked a couple of times. At least I'm having a couple of weeks respite to get over the intravenous chemo.

Gosh, Julie, I'm so sorry about the results and your need to change treatment. This disease is just horrible! You're in my thoughts, and I'm hoping for success with whatever new treatment's queued up. Very best, Lynn

Its the waiting thats the worst isnt it. so sorry it wasnt all good news, it must be very scary but I guess the good thing is there are still more treatments to try. wishing you all the luck in the world that the new treatment works. Take care x

Waiting 3 weeks for scan results has been horrible, I can deal with bad news but not knowing is torturous. There are still options and I'm clinging to that thought 😊Jx

So sorry Julie. I am finding out today Xeloda worked if not I will move to Taxol... Xeloda has been really easy and no side effects really so crossing fingers you can move to it and it gives you results

That is so good to hear. I've heard so many negative reports about xeloda, even the oncologist yesterday warned me that it wasn't an easy drug! It's so good to hear positive reports about it, changing drugs is always so scary.

Thank you Hannah 😊 I feel as though everyone who has responded to this post and my frustration last week has given me a big hug.

I am so grateful for this site and the positivity of the contributions. I joined a group on Facebook and although the issues raised were similar, the posts and responses were all doom and gloom. So I left that group. I love the empathy and reassurance that the contributors on this site give. Thank you Everyone!
