Sharing that my daughter and I are meeting with hospice for in home hospice care this afternoon. I was going to wait for one more CT scan and oncologist visit, but this past weekend I spent the whole weekend in bed and had so much weakness and breathing problems that I can't put it off any longer. Hoping they get me home oxygen this week and that I feel better. Thanks, everyone for being here, for your support, kind thoughts and prayers. 💕🪷💕

Dear NPmary: Praying you get the palliative care you need to make you more comfortable. It’s a difficult decision we all have, or will, face. May God the Father & the Lord Jesus Christ be your strength & hope now & eternally. 🙏❤️🙏

You’ll find that that bit of extra help - the oxygen and hospice care - will feel like a weight lifted and burden shared after all the daily hard work on your part to just keep going. Much love.

It’s never easy hearing the news about someone in the community starting their final chapter. I feel for you and your situation. My father died at home without any hospice. It was my mother who took care of him and provided all that a hospice worker would have done. It was a lot for her and I don’t know how she endured it. I watched my parents go through this feeling powerless over the situation. It will be easier for everyone in your family, especially your daughter, to have hospice coming in to help. May every hand that touches you on this leg of the journey be a loving hand. ❤️‍🩹🙏

Mary,

You were one of the very first to leave a kind comment on my initial post when I was diagnosed a couple of months ago so it only seems fitting that you be the first post I send a supportive reply to 🤍

I am sending you comfort and good vibes from a sunny spring day in the Northwest and wishes for you to be wrapped in love and comfort in whatever form that looks like for you.

For me, it’s having at least one of my two cats near enough to pet and feel the purr, an episode of Schitts Creek and some kind of crunchy, cheesy snack on hand. 😽

I hope your care team, your daughter along with the oxygen have made you feel mounds better and that you continue to get the care you deserve 🙏🏽

We’ll be pulling for you and sending collective strength.

Onward ❤️‍🩹

Laurie

I am so so so very sorry, NPmary.. I have been thinking about you and my heart ❤️ goes out to you. I wish I could give you a real hug. I would wear my mask I promise. Your posts helped when I joined this sacred group.I am glad to read you have the oxygen you need. I know you mentioned waiting a month or so for hospice but they will definitely help you be more comfortable and please don't hesitate to tell them when you need anything. I have not got a chance to meet you in this life but I know I will come to meet you in the next life when it's my turn. I will pray for you and your family for God's loving arms to hold you and your family, to give you peace and an all encompassing love. I am glad your daughter is there with you. Fridays and weekends seem to be the worst time when it comes to our cancer symptoms getting potentially worse. Please have your daughter call hospice and not to hesitate, since hospice has a special comfort care kit for just those times when our health needs change without warning. I don't want you to worry one bit but to know care is always there for you and your daughter too. Bless you Mary and your journey through this life. Lots of love and thoughts pouring your way.

Hi Mary. My heart goes out to you as you face struggles on this journey. When I became part of this board I scanned the board for people diagnosed around the same time as me...2018 and found your profile. I have always found your posts and responses to be so kind, realistic and knowledgeable. Hospice care is so specialized these days, they can really help alleviate symptoms that have lead you to this decision. I hope that is the case for you. Having your daughter at your side can be like a warm hug. You have been such a wonderful contributor to this board and I hope once they get some of your symptoms more manageable you'll be able to join us back here. Please remember you are in my thoughts. Take care.
