Good scan results today ! 🙂

After 10 months on Ibrance / Letrozole I had my first scan results today and am very happy and wanted to share it with you lovely ladies ! I haven’t posted much recently (scanxiety !) but do follow you and it’s been a great help to me . So thank you !

My ct scan showed that Ibrance /Letrozole is working and my bone mets (which for me are in 2 areas of the pelvis ) are contained (sealed in) and inactive . I am staying on the same treatment ( Ibrance 125mg / Letrozole ) which I have tolerated well , and will have a scan in 6 months . I was told that the word ‘remission ‘ is not used in Breast cancer but if it was I would be close to it! So that’s good enough for me for now , considering I was only diagnosed with invasive ductal breast cancer 11 months ago and bone mets (to pelvis) shortly after . I had a right mastectomy /reconstruction and axillary clearance with 16/18 positive nodes on one side . My next decision is whether to go for Breast reduction on my non affected side to rebalance ?...

So to any ladies just starting with ibrance hang in there ! 😘

Fantastic news!

I had my scans last week, and the only thing the Doctor said was the pictures look good.

Pleased for you too! I saw you had posted earlier that you were concerned about a long wait for your scan . I had the same situation with onc basing the decision on how well I was feeling , my bloods which have been good and my tumour markers which were within normal range . But I was very pleased yesterday to get the results of my ct scan with my bone mets sealed over and inactive. Well worth the wait and I am so relieved ! Hope the same for you too x

How did you cope with the Breast reduction op and post op ? I do need one too but just the timing of it ?

I had mine done when I had my lumpectomy. For me, it seriously was not that bad. The recovery was pretty easy. They don't cut any muscle, so it's not really that bad.

How long was the recovery period ? Thanks x

I was off pain killers in two days. Now, I wasn't out running or anything like that, but living a regular life easily within a week. The skin took longer to recover, but it really wasn't a big deal. Occasionally I'd get a jolt of pain, but it would go away as fast as it came.

I guess a person prone to drama would milk it. But honestly, it wasn't a big deal. The chemo I started 3 weeks later was far, far worse.

Thanks Diamags ! I would like to consider a reduction on my non- affected left side to rebalance , while I feel fit and well at the moment and am currently N.E.D. My bloods measured in my week off have been fine for 10 months ( neutrophyls 2.0 in last 2 months and white blood cells 3.6. My tumour markers are in the normal range .

I have the support of my lovely onc if I decide to go ahead and the lovely surgeon that did my right mastectomy / reconstruction with a smaller silicon implant . But in doing so , I will have to have a two week break from ibrance ( 1 week before and 1 week after the op ). In addition I will also have 4 weeks of injections to boost my bone marrow production to lower the risk of infection . The op is done as a day patient but will require a few weeks recovery . If anyone has had surgery while on ibrance / N.E.D. I would love to hear x
