Hi All I consider myself very fortunate that over the passed 4 years my pet scan results has not shown any or very little met progression. The mets started in l1 ,l2 and l3. I have been on tamoxifen, letrozole and everolimus and afinitor. I have pet scans every 5 to 6 months . I saw my oncologist last week and my mets had spread to t2,t3,7th rib, both hips, l4 and sacrum. The oncologist wants to start me on Ibrance in a few weeks after I complete my radiation appts. My question is .. Is anyone on fentanyl patches and taking Ibrance. I understand there maybe a drug interaction. It makes me nervous. I hesitated to post my test results but I would not have been fair to myself or all of you. Take care

Sorry Shelby that your results are not more positive. I had a similar dx but it is greatly improved after 5 months on Ibrance. I’m wishing the same for you.
I am on Ibrance, Letrozol and the Fentanyl patch for pain plus Dilaudid for breakthrough pain. I have bone mets and had radiation to my T 10 and 12 vertebrae for the pain from compression fractures. I don’t have any side effects that I know of from that combination of drugs. Even constipation, which is a usually side effect of those kind of pain meds, is not a real big problem. I am on a 25 mcg. patch and drive and operate heavy machinery if you include a vacuum cleaner and a sewing machine in that category! I have the usual fatigue that everyone complains about but no other problems. Extreme pain was much more limiting than the pain drugs have been. They have freed me to continue playing with my grandchildren, continue gardening, continue sitting at my sewing machine making quilts, and continue traveling. If you have any other concerns I can answer, please let me know. Good luck in your journey. Elaine
Thanks for responding Elaine. I have had radiation on l1, l2 and l3 due to compression fractures.
The radiation helped but I also had vertebroplasty. This procedure helped immensely for pain. When I was talking to my oncologist today she wants me to decrease my fentanyl patch as low as I can handle in one month. Right now I'm on a 50 and 12 mcg. I'm going to me my family doctor on Friday and hopefully she will be able to help me on the tapering.
I tried going down to 12 but it was too soon and I felt like I was just popping Dilaudid all the time. That was 6 months ago and now I’m using less Dilaudid than previously so it is probably time to decrease the patch down to 12. Make sure they give you something like Dilaudid that you can take intermittently for pain when you overdo things while you are getting accustomed to the decreasing dosage. I don’t need extra when I’m just cruising around the house doing light chores but when I play with my youngest grandkids or shop for too long, my back gets to the point where I feel I can’t stand up straight due to the pain in my lower back and ribs so then I take extra. It’s not hard to taper, I think you just have to be more aware of when you are going to have pain and head it off by extra pain meds or sitting in a comfortable place and resting for 15 minutes or however long it takes to get the pain to recede.
I wanted vertebroplasty but they said my fractures were too old even though they had just started giving me pain just a month previously so they wouldn’t do it. The radiation helped immensely so I was grateful. Elaine
I was on Ibrance and faslodex and it worked very good for about a year, dont know anything about the patches, i am just starting affinitor, did you have any problems with it, I mean bad side effects, how long were you on it for and how many milligrams, my doctor started me with 5 mg
I was on affinitor for about 5 months along with evermestane. For me I became allergic and had to take ondansatron daily because I always felt sick. I hope all goes well for you. Shelley
