Taxol and fatigue

Hi All. I apologize if I already posted on this but the amount of fatigue I am experiencing on Taxol (3 weeks on 1 week off) is getting to be a lot. Most days I don’t feel as though I can get out of bed. My palliative care NP is thinking to change my pain meds over to methadone from opioids. She said methadone does not cause fatigue. In any event, I am told that the fatigue is cumulative on Taxol. I have had 6 infusions thus far. Would love to hear other’s experience and any tips to deal with the fatigue. Thank you.

Hey Purple

I had about 12 infusions in total and worked well for me. I didn’t get tired but had to poop within 2 hours of infusion. I was drinking green juice regularly then. Wonder if that helped. Last few months Ibrance has been kicking my a$$. Hope you get great results. Hang in there. Eat and drink your greens. 💕

Thank you so much for your always thoughtful responses. I bought the book you suggested on juicing and it helped tremendously in clearing up the types of juicing and corresponding machines.

I will start eating more greens. Interestingly greens are the easiest to get down. Right now on Taxol I have a much smaller appetite and proteins other than chicken are not easy to get down...very little interest.

Thank you.

You’re doing all the right things. I had a great response to taxol, I wish the same for you. Wish I could keep taking it. About 3 months ago I turned off to fish. I really don’t like eating it except tuna salad. I always enjoyed halibut and Chilean sea bass. I’m trying to be mostly vegetarian but I still eat chicken. It’s no joke negotiating this disease. 💕

Hi Sandra,

I am feeling better. Been going thru one of those periods where everything kind of bottomed out. Hitting reset now. The sunny, warmer weather definitely helps. Restart the Ibrance today. Once in a while I just wish this wasn't my reality, but that ship has sailed and got to get back on track to living like I mean it. Hope you are doing well. Thanks for asking.

Hi purple, I have just finished no 12 session on taxol I live in the uk. I started like you feeling really fatigued on session 6. I was having taxol every thursday for 6 weeks then 1 week off. My oncologist has now after session 12, put me on every thursday for 3 weeks then 1 week off due to a chest infection and the fatigue I hope will lessen having a break after week 3. Hang in there and try and set yourself little daily goals. Best wishes.

Thank you so much. You were on quite a schedule with 6 treatments in a row. You must be a very strong lady! I am on 3 infusions weekly with one week break and after my 9th infusion we will go to two weeks on with one week off to address the cumulative fatigue. Please keep us updated on your progress and I will do the same,
