Weekly Taxol and steroids

Hi all, Do anyone of you ladies currently on weekly Taxol take steroids before, the day of and the day after treatment? I remember when I first had chemo (carboplatin and taxetere), I had to take them. This time around they didn't give me any and just doubled the dose prior to administering the taxol. I feel like total crap and I don't remember feeling quite so bad right out of the shoot.

Hi, I have weekly Taxol and am given 8 mg of dexamethasone along with Zantac infusion (and have forgotten the third thing 😊 ) about 20mns before Taxol infusion.

I have weekly taxol on week 25 on thursday. I have dexamethasone and also piriton injection before the taxol infusion.

When I had chemo with my initial dx I had ACT and then Taxol all with steroids the day before my IV. It helped me as I recall.

Yes I receive weekly taxol that started with 8mgm of dexamethasone along with Pepcid and Benadryl IV prior to infusion. I experienced a bad reaction to the steroid. 24 post infusion I broke out in a horrendous red rash on my face, neck, and chest. It got to a point where it stayed through to the next infusion. I did some research and so did my doc and apparently many centers decrease the dosage to 4 mg and eventually 2 mgm and then none. We were advised by the allergist if a patient was going to experience an allergic response (which could be fatal) it happens within the first few minutes of taxol being infused and after a few infusions if the patient shows no reaction it is generally ok to lower the dose or discontinue. So mythought is you may want to have the discussion with your doc and see if they are amenable to lowering the dose. I receive 2 mgm now and I don’t have the rash any longer along with other side effects of steroids like insomnia. Good luck Lemur!

I just finished my Taxol treatment a few weeks ago. I had 20mg of steroid the night before treatment and then about 20mg 20 min before Taxol infusion. I loved the steroid💕it gave me great energy for about three days. I used to do all my chores on those days so I could relax on the bad days.
