Good morning. After taking Ibrance w/ Fulvestrant for 8 mos., it stopped working 2 mos. ago. The next plan is Piqray w/ Fulvestrant, but the side effect were too much - especially to my one remaining eye (the mucous membrane). Next plan, which I should begin this Wed. if ins. approves, is Taxol infusions - 3 weeks on and 1 week off.
If anyone has opinions or experience w/ Taxol and MSB, in my case bone lesions and tumors, I' would like to hear them.
Thank you, Jim

I had Taxol on same regime for 7 months after my tumour mutated. I had Ibrance/letrozole for nearly 4 years and then capecetabine for 9 months which worked. Had liver resection for mets and then the thing mutated. I found Taxol not too bad at all, although I reduced dose in latter months due to neuropathy, other than that just fatigue. It stopped working and I’m on Piqray/Fulvestrant. Bad reaction to Piqray but after one cycle Ca-153 down substantially once recovered will try a lower dose. Taxol a breeze by comparison.Wishing you all the best! Marie
Dues to the side effects and my current vision condition, I was hours away from Piqray/Fulvestrant treamnet when I decided against it. My next best option is the Taxol. I can go back to Piqray if I decide. I have good viens now, but did you need a port at any time? And id you lose hair from Taxol?
Sadly I did albeit my onc said that with the 3week on one off cycle I probably wouldn’t. I remind him from time to time. It’s growing back now although if I manage to continue with Piqray I’m not sure how things will go. To be honest the least of my worries but would have preferred to keep it. Xx
I was put on Taxol during the later part of my first year with MBC. While changing Medical Centers, the Letrozole had stopped working and a new PET was done that showed the tumors all around in my lungs and on about 10 spots of bone, I only got in 7 treatments of Taxol before I had a terrible reaction that I almost died from but when rescanned the Taxol had cut the tumor load in half in those 7 treatments. It was a very effective drug for me!
Thank you. I'll ask my Dr. of course, but is this weekly infusion (3 wks on, 1 off) go on forever as long as it's working. And did you lose your hair? Thanks again, Jim
I had all my hair buzzed off before starting the Taxol as I had read of others losing it in hand fulls after each treatment. In those 7 treatments I lost only a little bit of peach fuzz that had grown back. Are you familiar with the Cold Capping option some people use now to keep most of their hair? If interested post it in a separate post and you will get many replies about it.
Hi Macspow, I take abraxane which is another form of taxol but might have less severe side effects. I take zyrtec and Zofran as premeds, and zyrtec for the next 2 days helps with body aches. I bought cold mitts and booties and ice 30min before, during, and 30 min after the infusion to try to prevent neuropathy. I also lost my hair, but it's trying to grow back 😅.
Good morning. I had my first Taxol infusion about 24 hrs. ago. 1 hr. 3 wks on - 1 wk off. I have good veins and no port, but I notice today my forearm vein is thick and full at injection site? Tis may be normal, and I'll wait another 24 before calling onco. Thanks for any issue answers, Jim
