Opioids

In response to concerns about using opioids to treat RLS after having stopped using pramipexole, I believe they are legitimate and I share them. Opioids are physically addictive. You don’t need to have an “ addictive personality “ to become addicted to them.

hi for those of you on here that can’t get on with opioids due to side effects what do you take for rls? i’ve heard good things about pregabalin but is it effective? thanks

I also experienced numerous issues with the opioids, but this is worse. I am waiting to hear back from my Dr., but wondering about getting off of the buprenorphine/naxolone. Has anyone stopped taking it, and was it difficult?

Reportedly opioids are banned but supposedly can bring them in with MD prescription and medication in original bottle. Has anyone had problems with this?

Considering the algorithm for someone diagnosed with RLS goes, Gab/Iron then Pregab then Short acting opioids then long acting opioids, all in all how much time does one typically have (average figures from your best estimates) to lead a somewhat livable life. I'm 30 and am confused.

I can't take anything with codeine, but paracetamol has a good antiinflammatory outcome, so worth a try.I'm not sure where the Omeprazole fits in, unless it's to protect your oesophagus from any opioids. Sorry I can't help further, but wish you well. Keep posting us.

Any problems going to Singapore (stopover) en route to Europe with 30 days worth of methadone, if in original container and with drs letter?Do I need to declare at customs?Thanks in advance for any advice.

I heard Dr Berkowski speak about mainstream treatments (gabapentinoids, iron, opioids in particular buprenorphine) as well as the Nidra device, dipyridamole, ecopicam and perampanel. Was there anything else?

posts by Joolsg and SueJohnson about AASM's drafting work last year, there is a new Clinical Practice Guideline from the AASM advising against the use of dopamine agonists for RLS except in some exceptional circumstances, strongly recommending iron therapy, and advising for gabapentinoids and low dose opioids

He also refused to prescribe me anything to help with coming off them ie opioids. I’m so disappointed but also not surprised. I thought that by being informed and prepared he might listen.

I am trying to do this without opioids to keep them for emergency breakthrough pain, travel etc.. I am scared of tolerance with codeine. Many thanks

It was last updated Jan ‘24, but it’s interesting in some of its guidelines such as mentioning not using DA’s as first line (in some cases) talking about augmentation AND opioids and iron infusion.

I take opioids to manage the general axial neck pain when needed but my question is how much pain do people generally put up with before they take medication for nerve issues- specifically gaberpentin or Lyrica. I have been prescribed gaberpentin but have put off taking it.

Stopping my Low dose Naltrexone in order to take opioids (suggested by Dr andrew) very sad and dark here. Tried ice pack, heat, massage, wrapping my legs. Does this ever end? Have an appointment with b a local nureolgist but probably will not keep as he will have old ideas?

Hi everybody, I'm a new member Adviced by a friend, I recently discovered this very interesting site and his forum ! Wish to have discovered it earlier !!! First of all, forgive me for my poor english, I live in belgium , I speak french. I'm 77 and suffer from RLS for more or less 35 years ....

I've not had any joy to date in getting opioids prescribed. My partner had some Codeine from a recent hospital stay and I've started taking this as a trial. To date (and it's early days) it seems to have been a game changer and I've been getting some decent sleep.
