update from 8 months ago...

My bio is in here already. Somehow the site wouldn't let me in unless I joined again. I left my last note that I was going to see another neurologist at Kaiser. Unfortunately we get lumped in with sleep medicine. I saw him for 8 months. He knew very little about RLS, was more interested in getting a sleep study, which I do not need as I already use CPAP. So I refused. My ferritin level was 14 and I wanted to get an iron infusion, well he refused for 8 months. I was taking alot of oral iron which was tearing up my stomach with not much effect, ferritin only got to 25 in 8 months, He wouldn't order it because I wasn't symptomatic.. He said well go off the oral, when you have a restless leg we can order it. He then said, you just cant come in here and get what you want. I told him our business was concluded. I tried to get approved for Dr Buchfuher who is very close to me. Was denied said I needed to get another opinion from Kaiser which would be the 3rd. I did not receive any guidance to find someone knowledgeable. So I went to another Kaiser location and chose a neurologist /not sleep medicine a DO(Doctor of Osteopathy) this time. I changed my primary to a DO as well. Both are amazing. The new Doctor, knew all the latest research out of Mayo clinic, I was totally impressed. I finally had someone to work with me. He ordered the iron infusion treatment, once that is finished and my ferritin is above 75 we will start to wean the Mirapex and decide to start on gabapentin. He actually suggested Bupropion ! I have decided I do not want to take opioids at this time. I just cannot believe it. I think he must be the only Doctor at Kaiser who has studied restless legs, I am not sure why there is such a lack of education.

Can you let me know his name as I keep a list of doctors who are knowledgeable so I can recommend them to someone else.

with heart renting in the first part of your post but thank goodness the miracle happened and you found that doctor, that is such a blessing and you’ll be able to help other folks with his name and practice too. This is just beautiful and so glad for you.💜
