Has anyone used a Chi Machine? A man at my church who has Parkinson's said he used to use the machine to help him sleep. (He had Deep Brain Stimulation and is now doing really well. No more tremors and his sleep is much better so it sounds like he doesn't use the Chi Machine any more.)

Chi machine?

I never heard of it - but I would classify it with the TENS machine - and other similar devices. They may help with sleep but I don't think it's a step toward any kind of alleviation with RLS symptoms. I found this article on devices generally. RLS is principally a neurological condition - these devices are targeting the legs via a "gate-control-theory" (from the study).

Thank you DicCarlson! So it looks like the most "hopeful" tool is Near-infrared light. Is that the same as a Near-infrared sauna?
Most people pan the red light therapy as effective treatment for everything except lack of sunlight therapy.
"Saunas use heat to produce biological effects, while red light therapy devices do not achieve results by heat alone.
Infrared saunas work by heating objects inside the sauna room, as opposed to heating the air itself like traditional saunas."
Yes, I have one and have used it to attempt to treat active RLS. It helps alleviate the sensation of agitation that RLS brings but, in my case, it’s helpfulness was limited. Often my RLS was severe enough, that even with the Chi machine moving my legs back and forth, the urge to move my legs overpowered any relief the machine could provide. However, it did help when my RLS was less severe. Overall, I like the machine and use it mostly when I’m not having RLS and it’s quite relaxing.
Thanks! My RLS is not severe, so might try it. Or a Vibration plate. Still researching.
I have one, not sure if it helps my serve RLS, but it is so relaxing at the end that it you feel a very pleasant sensation throughout your body. Also, You can wear head phones while using it to enjoy relaxing music to further enhance the experience. I highly recommend it , just to help one feel better due to ongoing sleep problems, due to RLS. You should find them on EBay for cheap.
