Has anyone used the services of Dr Monk of Colchester?

He uses a method of electro acupuncture to treat restless legs syndrome.

I tried using the services of his clinic a few years ago and had fours visits to his premises. At first I thought there was an improvement but as time went on this was nit the case. I also bought a profile tens machine recommended by Dr Monk for my own use. I used the machine regularly every night and to be honest I found little improvement. The cost of this treatment including travel was prohibiting and I found little benefit over this period of time.

Dr monk is now offering treatment remotely via zoom at the cost of £85 per half hour session not including the cost of buying a tens or similar machine and not including disposable electrodes etc

Has anyone used this service and if so I would like to know their experience before I commit to this expense!

I can only say that I have had acupuncture for pain and it did alleviate the pain. It did nothing for my RLS.

I do recall a few posts on here saying people had tried TENS or acupuncture. I don't recall any of them saying it worked for RLS.

The last time I had acupuncture it cost £40 for an hour.

I’ve wasted hundreds of pounds on acupuncture over the decades. I saw the top experts from Beijing University who visit a specialist centre in Camden, London & they all confirmed acupuncture will not help RLS.

They offer foul tasting/smelling Chinese herbs instead ( which also don’t work).

I know we’re all different when it comes to meds & treatment for RLS but unless you’re wealthy, save your money.

I tried acupuncture and it was incredibly painful as she put needles in the soles of my very sensitive feet and ankles, plus legs etc. I hoped it would help and made the journey every week for months but it didn't.

I also bought a TENS machine, the one recommended for RLS (there are two types of TENS) but although some articles said it would help, I gave up as it was a faff to do and made no noticeable difference.

So, I'm sorry to report a negative for me on both of those and several hundred pounds in cash lighter!
