Yes it can be hard to quit Nic. Lets face it most of us have been smoking most of our lives. We've pulled out a nic stick every time we felt.stressed,sad,tired,happy,excited,bored,elated,..whenever and whatever .
And a few or many times we've set a quit date ,managed a few days or even months ,then wham ! we slip , for some reason we either bum one off someone or go and buy some,we smoke it and then what ? We feel bad,a failiure, weak , destined to always smoke. So we smoke another and another..at this point we can decide to give up trying to quit or pull our socks up, think about why we went back to nic and set another quit date. If we have our wits about us we will keep trying until the day we don't have to try ,we are a non smoker.
As a tried a few times person,I know how bad we can feel if we do slip.how we chastise ourselves , get down , feel a complete failiure..BUT I also know it is not the end..I know I will pick myself up and quit again..I do not dismiss all the days I was quit, they were good days, days I was a non smoker , they were days that showed me I can live without Nic , and life still goes on and is actually better !
So my friends if you slip ..DON'T beat yourself up ..learn from it , praise yourself for the times you were smoke free ..reset your date , your head , and GO FOR IT. Millions have quit , many had as hard a time as us ..BUT THEY DID IT ..and WE WILL TOO !

Getting ready for quit day again lol..well done for getting back on track.
There are many excuses/reasons I can trot out for slipping back..it has been a very stressful few weeks mentally and physically and I think that is why I took a break from trying. Now things are returning to normal I am preparing myself . Have a great smoke free day, we all know its worth it and im not talking financial. xx jan
I'm talking financial, the money I'm saving is about the only thing keeping me going. Am going to leave it a couple of weeks after the budget and I will be straight to Asda's cig counter asking how much the ones I used to smoke are now, and they had better be at the very least 20p a packet more. I am hanging by a mere thread now.
It's not a mere thread it's a blooming big long strong piece of navy twined rope !! :)) You must have saved a packet ,WOW ,I hope you're treating yourself to something nice for yourself and I bet you're not far of the increase amount .
oh sinfree ..I know where you're coming from BUT,believe me sincerely from where I am ..I wish I was you ! just keep hanging on to those frayed bits and tie them all together .you are doing great and yes I am envious . big hugs x jan
I love this post, thank you. So very true... It’s about getting back on the smokefree ride and trying our best, keeping positive and strong and learning from our past attempts.
There's loads and loads of amazing support on here. You’re all stars (*)
Hi Jan, best not to set a quit date because you feel you have to, do it when you feel REALLY REALLY ready to give up. I promised my partner Gar I'd stopped smoking for new year... (the constant nagging was driving me crazy!) however it took me until the 18 Feb to actually do it, cause I knew I had to be in the right frame of mind... Four weeks, one day, plenty of time for failure but as every day that passes I'm more and more determined to stick with it...
