Good Morning Slimdusty,

Glad to hear you are planning to 'get back on it' and 'get back off it'! ;-)

On the countdown to Monday, everytime you have a cigarette, really think about it and notice how you feel before, during and after you've had it. Try and notice what it is that leads up to you actually having the cigarette in the first place, is it becase you have seen somebody else smoking, is it when you pop the kettle on? These will be you 'triggers' that lead you to smoking. It may be a feeling you have, simply because some time has passed since you last smoked and so your body or mind may be telling you that it's time for your next hit. Recognising all this will help you understand how it may be for you when you reach your quit date.

It may also be worth learning the different breathing exercises that can be used for different reasons. If you learn how t do them, when you need to put them into practise they'll come more easily to you :-)

Think about all your past quit attempts and see what you can learn from them so that this attempt will have a smokefree end result :-)

Remember that if you think you can do this, then you can. It's all in the planning :-)

Hi Slimdusty :) as one who has been where you are and who is early days quit ..well done for deciding to go for it on Monday.Emjay's advice is brilliant,i think the last few days of my smoking i thought about each one ,why i wanted it, how it felt, etc. I was also very fed up with the hold it had on me.Quit isnt easy, its hard to fight nic..but I am now at day 8 ,and I feel so much better,my skin is much better,i sleep better, its early days and im taking one day at a time..so be kind to yourself, you can and will do this,we've all been there :)) Jan

I'm on day 18. I've done cold turkey, I've done gum, I had hypnotism once and I have failed each time, This time, I'm using lozenges but most of all, my inner me has said "enough is enough". This time it's me that wants to stop and there's only me can do it. I am aware that I will have to give up the lozenges before long but right now, I have not had a ciggy for 18 days.

The support I have had from my fellow quitters has really given me hope and this time I will win. Go for it Slimdusty we are all by your side. :)

Best of luck Slimdusty, you can do it... The worst for me was was actually doing it, giving up... My new years resolution, passed, couldn't face it.... Been there before, so hard....

How could I get focused I thought... so I started running, 1 mile, 2 then 3.... Oh my, my lungs hurt after.... kept on pushing it until something in my brain said, running as painful it is makes me feel truly good all night, one ciggie, well that last ten minutes before another...

Go for it......

Hi ya Slim :) a big well done to you for setting another quit date :) I think the others have said most of it, but dont be nervous about quitting, you have to believe in yourself, be confident that your going to do it this time :) :)

Will you just try one thing for me this weekend while you are smoking :o when you feel like a fag, dont have one ! then when you feel like one again, dont have one ! then when you feel like you want one the third time -- then have it !!!! if you see what I mean :) good luck Slim :) :)

Pete :)

Good luck for Monday Slim spending the weekend reading on here and you will be doubly determined (or Mad) :)

I am a month today so still new too but have found everyone here sooo motivational and it has really helped with the occassions when I was weakening.

Think I take a tip from Bellabella and get out there coz I have always wanted to try running.

Best Wishes YOU CAN DO IT

Linda xx
