We went a walk (a mile around the block with a very steep hill) and I feel fine, if I had done that a month ago I would have got 1/2 way round and felt breathless and needed a rest, maybe go another walk tomorrow if its nice, got loads of music on mp3 player so thats a bit of motivation
Thanks for letting us know about Jillygirl Pete, poor lady she has been through it. Loads of hugs for you Jillygirl if you manage to read this.
Great pic this morning Pete, full of energy It's been a pretty miserable day here as well but not as cold as it has been. Shame you couldn't get the roses sorted, but maybe tomorrow.
Sounds like you had a good night's sleep for a change Sue, you must have been tired if you fell asleep in your chair It's a pity the postman woke you up, they are so inconsiderate! It's not too bad if you are having a present delivered like John did but not for a boring old letter, especially if it's a bill. I'm imagining you now in the garden turning your pig on a spit, while holding your umbrella
I'm glad you got through the time with your outlaws Sarah. Did they say anything about you giving up smoking? It's good for you to see the rewards of giving up such as not having to have a break when you were walking up that hill, good for you
I've been a bit concerned about getting addicted to the NRT but keep telling myself, the main thing is giving up smoking, I will deal with the NRT when I have to but I'm not ready to give it up yet. I had to give up the niQuitin mini lozenges as they were making me ill, now on another type and have a mouth spray.
Hope you've had a great day so far I agree the main this is giving up smoking, I'm in the same position as you with NRT, i just wonder sometimes if that's harming me now tried to find out but my memory is really bad just now, i can't remember anything i read, think my one brain cell needs a jump start
Good afternoon gang. Firstly, thank-you Pete for the update on our Jilly, like we all say, never far from our thoughts.
Glad you've all been having a pretty okay day. Sue, is your laptop a replacement for your hubby when you're in that loving room? I'd have a right headache if I slept that long - chance would be a fine thing.
Weather the same down here as everywhere else (apart from Orkney! ).Heard the rain when I woke up, hit the snooze button 3 times, got up, out the door at 7.30 and did my run. Really pleased I didn't put it off any longer. Out and about with friends today and had a full english breakfast for lunch in a cafe so I'd better only eat fruit and nuts for my tea.
Sarah, next time you go to the pool I think you need to get in with the kids!
I prefer to get up earlier if I can and if I can do the exercise early then it's done with for the day. We had a couple of cracking sunrises this week and it's noticeably getting lighter earlier each week now.
Ah, now that's another of those things that happen when you quit. You should find something about it under the tags but it's another recovery thing cos the blood's now reaching your extremities. Try to go easy when your brushing your teeth and don't overbrush them.
Hi guys hope everyone has had a good every home should have a loving room lol..i like that .
Confession ..i slipped..i've had 2 roll ups not proud of myself, dont know why..except i'm very tired, its been a very long tiring day and it was my first day out with lots of smokers...i just didnt have the strength, i gave in . BUT I'm determined to get back on track its just annoying because it was day 3 ,half a week..and i feel pretty bad with myself for being weak.
Hi Jan as i said on your blog, your not weak your human, we've all slipped up, i have more times that i can count. Just start again, you can do this, and we'll all help you all we can
Jan some people go fagfree for months and still have one or 2.
Dont beat yourself up (or try not too) just get back on that horse.
Tomorrow is another day
You should sit down and write down why you want to stop smoking, what situations makes you have a fag more, how you can not put yourself in that situation and if you cant change that thing work out what you can do to make it easier for you, write down the pros and cons of smoking and work out how much a day/week and month you are going to save and then see what you can buy with that money...
Erm ave just found this old post about teeth & gums it just may help you
When you smoked, you were literally smoking your gums and throat. Your gums and tissues built up a crust just like if you were smoking a salmon.
When you quit smoking that old, hard crusty tissue will slough off and in its place you will get new, baby tissue, almost like when a baby is teething.
Only about 1 out of 30 people that quit smoking or chewing get sore mouth, gums and tongue, but if you are affected by this symptom your mouth will feel like it is hot and on fire.
Don't suffer with this symptom. It may last as long as 8 weeks.
A student in one of my Nicotine Solutions classes had to have her dentures relined because there was that much of a change in her gums from quitting smoking.
Try Amosan to relieve sore mouth, gums and tongue. Amosan is a soothing mouth-rinse. It comes in a powder and you mix it with water and rinse with it and then spit it out. It is very soothing and you will be glad you didn't suffer with this symptom.
The active ingredient in Amosan is (or rather was) sodium perborate. When mixed with water, sodium perborate yields borate (which does nothing for your mouth) and HYDROGEN PEROXIDE.
So, simply mix 2tsp/10ml of common first-aid type hydrogen peroxide (10 volume/3% strength) with 2tsp/10ml of warm water. Then rinse exactly as you did with Amosan. DON'T SWALLOW THE MIXTURE! (Read the warnings on the hydrogen peroxide bottle.) I used this myself last time I had a gum inflammation and it worked perfectly (and at a tiny fraction of the price of Amosan!)
As with Amosan you shouldn't eat or drink for 20-30 minutes after rinsing. And make sure you use a fresh bottle of hydrogen peroxide, not one you've had sitting around the medicine cabinet for a couple of years and have been using to dab bloody cuts and scrapes.
For more convenience (plus a minty taste) Colgate now markets a hydrogen peroxide oral rinse under the name Peroxyl. I haven't tried it but it appears to be widely sold across North America and no doubt other regions, and if it isn't available in your area you can buy it on eBay.
Sorry Pete but i'm gonna have to follow Andi and go to my bed,
nite nite, sweet dreams, luv ya xxxxxxxxxxx
nite nite everybody, see you tomorrow, luv yas xxxxxx
