Hiya fellow quitters Just wanted to ask about coughing...Im coping extremely well with the cravings its the coughing i cant cope with...it was never this bad on 20 a day this is the only reason that i would quit quitting...any positive answers appreciated cough!! cough!! cough!!!!!!!!

Hey Kimz, the coughing is usually to be expected. What type of cough is it? If it is a dry tickly cough it is likely to be the little hairs in the back of your nose, throat and windpipe - called Cilia, starting to work properly again. Cleaning themselves up after laying flat covered by all the 'stuff' that smoking cigarettes brings with it. You may also experience more phlegm, which doesn't sound very nice but you are just coughing up what is not supposed to be there.

This really is a positive sign of recovery. Try drinking plenty of water or use a sugar free boiled sweet to sooth your throat. Obviously, if the coughing persists or you become worried, please speak to your GP.

Hiya EmJay...cough got gradually worse so went to see the Doc again she said i had chest infection and gave me steroids and antibiotics so hopefully the cough should start to improve....Still not had a cigarette sooooo pleased with myself Thanks for your reply x

Hi, I'm not coughing but wish I could. it's the phlegm that is making me try to stop smoking....don't like it in my throat....it makes me nervous, then I want another cigarette......vicious circle....and my little kitten is sitting here, trusting me, not understanding what I'm going through hee!hee! Zipper is his name...

Hi Kimz, I coughed a lot the first few days but it got easier after that, just wandered though if you 'do' spit the {flem} phlegm out into a hanky or something, you've got to get rid of it gal, I know its not very nice but it helps with the coughing, well it did with me.

Iv'e got this to come next week, my quit date is Monday 23rd April, although not sure what year!!, this will be my second attempt to stop, went 6 weeks last time. Keep focused Kimz and well done your doing great gal.

Kimz if its any consolation gal Iv'e got the sneezers today, man flue I think, sneeze!! sneeze!! have to dose myself tonight. Has anybody got anything for a red nose!!!?

Hiya Pete cough still bad but got steroids and antibiotics off Doc so hopefully it will get better now...still no cigarettes for me Hurrah!!!!

Morning Kimz glad your getting your cough sorted out gal and i say hurrah to you as well, your doing great keep in there.

I dossed myself all last weekend and i think its paid off this time, just got a bit of a sniffle now, thank you for asking Kimz.

Hiya Pete im doing ok thanks still keeping on quitting im finding it suprisingly easy no cravings at all.Just wish i felt healthier but that will happen soon i guess/hope haha Hope your doing ok Kim

Hi Kim, it will happen soon gal just hang in there, we are ALL with you, dont you forget that!!!!! and I flippin envy you gal-- no cravings, gosh i'm getting loads but at the moment i am fighting them off, hopefully will get there. You keep them hurrahssssss up gal.
