hello I quit cold turkey 6 days ago after many attempts and smoking a pack a day for 20 years. I’m still finding it hard and have insomnia which is the most difficult. I cannot wait for the time when I don’t feel a need for a cigarette . I try to remind myself that nothing worth having comes easy. I feel as if I have been tortured but remind myself that the cigarettes caused this so remaining strong.

Hi Hopesanddreamss and welcome to Quit Support. It's never easy to quit but it’s easier with a little support 💪🚭
Well done for your 1st smoke free week.
I could have written your post, I quit cold turkey, alone, but after a couple of weeks I found that I was struggling, I found this community and never looked back.
Cold turkey isn't the easiest way to quit but once we're over the worst we're smoke/nicotine free for ever. The tortured feeling will soon disappear so try to change your mindset and think about something else. Insomnia can be difficult too,but I found changing my routine around helped with that. Try a classic hot, comforting drink at bedtime, I enjoy camomile but anything caffeine free will help. Try turning all the screens off a couple of hours before bedtime, perhaps you could indulge in some extra self care, an extra long shower or a soak in some bubbles.
Above all, keep us close, there's always someone willing to listen, even a shoulder to lean on.
Well done again and good luck 🍀
