Good evening everyone. Just checking in and hoping you all are doing well. I'm at Day 11 and still smoke free. I have a question for those of you that have successfully maintained a smoke free lifestyle. I haven't ever had a problem not smoking when I am sick. It's always when I get better that the cravings hit. I'm not at that craving point yet. I want to be prepared when that time comes. So far, I haven't had any NRT of any kind, and I hope the nicotine is out of my system by now. Should I get lozenges or patches for when the cravings do arise? I have read articles that say yes. I'm really thinking I don't want to reintroduce nicotine back into my system and start that mess all over again. Anyway, any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi racerwife, The cravings are usually worse when you hit the 3 week mark if you can manage over that I think you will be fine.Have a look through the links.

I would suggest try replace with mints, diced fruits, nuts, or simply just drink a glass of water. It depends whether your actually craving for a cigarette or just missing the hand to mouth action. You have gone 11 days so I think you should be fine.

If you decide on nrt. perhaps gum or lozenges would suit you better.

No quit is the same and there is no actual time scale as each individuals quit is different.

Keep on being positive and you will beat nasty Nic.

My bedtime now so chat tomorrow. 😉🌼🌞💕✖✖

Good morning Racerwife I presume you’re still not feeling 100% so you’re not currently feeling any urge to smoke. Is that right? If so, I would suggest having NRT available in a drawer or your bag when you go out just in case especially if it means you may go and buy cigarettes, however if you’re out and about and a craving hits, it is just as easy to pop to a shop and buy NRT as it is to buy cigarettes. So if/when the time comes stay strong and choose NRT👍

Hi Racerwife, you’ve done really well without using NRT and the nicotine is out of your system at this stage. To weigh up if it’s better to use NRT than smoke, yes it definitely is. You may not need NRT but the option is there just in case. I think you’re doing fab🚭💪🤗xx
