Severe headaches

Hi all,

I started to get severe headaches and get very anxious everytime I had a cigarette and my heart rate was increasing steadily for months. Each time I smoked i would get really bad headaches and have to close my eyes with pain but at the same time I could never relax properly.

I am now 2 weeks smoke and nicotine free and I am coping quite well and starting to feel more relaxed than I have in a long time even though I know its only been 2 weeks. (I smoked for 12 years).

The part I am now struggling with is headaches. similiar to when I was smoking. it's like my brain hurts!! crazy. I also feel uncontrollable rage coursing through my body at the smallest of things. SO SO ANGRY!

But I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I really want to quit this time for me, nobody else. Found this page absoloutely. To hear other people struggles and achievements really helped me. helped in a way nothing else had previously. werll done to all

Welcome back dairekillen, reading between the lines ,it seems you have suffered a hiccup. Please let us know if this is incorrect,if it's correct I'll re-set your badge.

About the headaches, you could try taking pain killers but if they continue or worsen I suggest you have a word with your doctor.

Here's a link which may help.

OK, the most important thing is that you're back on track.

Thanks for being honest, not only with us, but also with yourself.

As you've been smoking for the last 3 months I'll re-set to day 1. These hiccups are learning curves, hardly anyone is successful the 1st time. Keep this site close.🍀🚭xx

Hi daire and welcome back to Quit Support

Glad to see you’re back on your quit journey🚭✅

2 weeks smoke free is a terrific achievement, well done👏🏼

Try to keep hydrated by drinking lots of water and this also helps to flush out the toxins.

Feeling angry is quite normal at this stage as we were so used to lighting up to deal with our emotions.

The breathing techniques under pinned posts posts will really help to calm things down. There are some great apps like Calm which are very helpful too.

It’s not easy but every struggle will be worth it. You’ve done so well and are probably experiencing brain fog which is a common side effect.

Have a look at some mindfulness or meditation for calmness too.

Hang in there, things will get better🚭🚭xx

Hi Dairekillen, well done on you achievement - every single day smoke free is an achievement. Well done for getting back to your quit - mistakes happen, as mentioned above, you learn from them.

I feel you on the rage issue - since quitting my temper has been terrible (sadly) but trying to sort it out. Small things get to me and I just flip (on the inside - which i think makes it worse cause i bottle it up). For example, the lady that works with me is outside smoking every 30 minutes, which is highly frustrating as most her day is spent smoking than working, and things need to get done! Think that is my anger trigger - but that could also be the terrible habit of an ex smoker i guess....

Have a lovely day all, and well done again dairekillen, you can do this!!!

xxxx
