Hi Anna.

Welcome to Quit Support, our friendly community of like minded members who are all here to encourage and support each other on our respective journeys to become smoke🚭free.

I see tubbs has given you loads of advice to get you started...... you could also write out a list of your personal reasons for wanting to quit, use a black felt tip pen, so it stands out, then pin it up somewhere in your home so that you see it every time you walk past it, you could do the same thing at work.

Our community mantra is NOPE(Not One Puff Ever)🚭

For now, I wish you well on your journey to become smoke🚭free.

😀🌞👍😘🚭 NOPE! Xx

Hi, if you really want to quit you will. I smoked for 43 years, quit with patches and quick mist. I joined NHS smoking trainers, great support and free. I really am rooting for you to quit, I have early stage copd and asthma, also my friend, younger than me has died of lung cancer. Good luck, you can do it.

Hi Anna and welcomeTHIS is the best things you will ever do,Write that on your wall everywhere,😀 I quit 18 days 504 hours ago,I was smoking for 49 years,I only wish I could have accepted how bad it was I can tell now by how my body is getting better every day,You can DO THIS, keep checked on here for support, good luck

I smoked from the age of 15 - probably to look cool and older than I was. Then the habit got me and smoked for many years which cost me a fortune and blocked arteries!

Do you have long hair? Do you like dressing up nicely? Do you like it when everyone who does not smoke, know you are a smoker? Boyfriends will know, their mothers and fathers will know just from how you smell and all the perfume and everything else will not hide the smell - even if you bath in it! Just open your mouth and they will know.

What a horrible thought that is but even more so the cost and the things your friends will be buying for themselves whilst you skulk behind the bike sheds, lean to, bus stop, dustbins, garages where your work will tell you to smoke! The craving and having to go to the loo for a quick drag and then worry whether anyone can smell the smoke.

They are just the start of the benefits of not smoking - then there is the health issue and shortness of breath and losing ones taste buds where food begins to loose it's enjoyment.

Then on the plus side are the instant winner points - you will stop smelling like an ashtray or being constantly worried about your breath smelling or your hair or clothes or furniture or your car No more holes in things you accidentally burn or yellowing fingers and teeth. No more wondering if you have enough money on you to buy a packet of ciggies, or heaven help you, your lighter runs out late at night - sheer panic!

Health benefits could take up another five pages but rest assured they are not joking when they say you will begin to feel so much better.

Now what are you waiting for - nicotine replacement patches are good, but go see the chemist and get advice on a non smoking programme you can join where the patches are free and where you will have a mentor who will talk "with" you at least once a week. Go for it, you have nothing to loose and a life to get back without an addiction to worry and pay for. I wish I had done it years ago. I'd have a Ferrari by now!...............well a new car......a small one with a huge engine and big wheels and a stripe and boom box and....and ....and.....;-)

I really liked your post, truth be told instead of the normal "good luck" feedback.

Dear Anna, congrats on knowing it's time to get healthy❗do some research then talk to your doctor about the best way for you to quit. Also the pharmacy in your area can give lots of advice as well. Or ...you can just jump in cold 🦃. You will find your way!😊 keep this support group close, as we have all been there.
