Congratulations Mama Duck, you have 3 more reasons to add to your quitting list.....surely something that causes heartburn, sleeplessness & leg cramps is to be avoided at all cost. If you are using an NRT it is more likely to interfere with sleep than other methods but for so many, it's the only way to maintain sanity. I can't promise that the next 2 weeks will be easy but I can assure you, it's worth it.

What is an NRT? I am feeling better this morning I usually only really feel like I need one when it gets later in the day.

Forgive me Mama Duck, NRT stands for nicotine replacement therapy. It includes any treatment that rplaces cigarettes with some other form of nicotine. Patches, chewing gum, sprays, lozenges &, if it's legal in your country, electronic cigarettes. Many quitters have successfully used NRTs to quit. For me,.....I liken it to tearing a bandaid off, very, very slowly. No matter how long you use them, (& for some it can be years) the day will come to stop & you will go through a period of adjustment for a couple of weeks (withdrawal). I chose to quit cold turkey which makes those first 2 weeks of quitting the worst but I don't have to worry about it coming back to bite me in the future. If you just can't get past those first couple of weeks, it may be worth considering them.

I have always quit cold turkey however this time I had smoked on an e-cig for a couple days which if anything I was constantly smoking that rather than cutting back so I just woke up the other morning thinking to myself I am better off just quitting again instead of replacing my habit so I just quit.

Mama Duck, hello from Germany, you are 2 weeks in, the detox is nearly over trust me a couple more days and you will feel wonderful.

The only advice that stuck in my mind after my heart attack was "stop smoking it will fu@king kill you" that was from the surgeon

keep strong a couple of days left and then you can work on your smoking triggers

Actually that hasn't been fixed yet I had just started over again a day and a half ago, so mine is only just begun lol, and oh my goodness glad you are ok now and have took the advice.

2 weeks is great! Refer back to why you quit to keep yourself motivated. So many good reasons unfortunately we go through some tough times. Your post caught my attention, I know exactly those feelings. Leg cramps have subsided, sleeping still an issue but it was before I quit. Stay strong!!
